so.. let me see if I understand this.... A fan of HP Lovecraft (Del Toro) is finally getting to do something by Lovecraft (instead of making Hellboy a Lovecraftian wannabe) and he feels that he needs to pull in the man who seems to have carnal knowledge of the goose that lays golden eggs... I really do not know how I feel about this, but somehow I think I should be in my bunk. |

I had thought he was doing disney's haunted mansion first after dropping out of The Hobbit? Don't get me wrong I have been waiting for a good Lovecraft movie with the fervor of a fanatic. |

I'm still skeptical. Despite these two big names, I have yet to see a Lovecraft-themed film that is worth a damn. |

I think a Lovecraftian miniseries would be a better way to go, personally. Edit: This is because you need much more time to build up the ambience and terror. |

As much as a Del Toro-directed Lovecraft film gets my motor running, I'll believe it when filming actuall starts. |

I don't think a well made lovecraft movie would appeal to mainstream america. That said, if Del Toro is able to do it justice on a smaller budget/scale that would be a good thing. |

This is the film del Toro has been waiting his lifetime to make. I have no doubt that he'll knock it out of the park. As for Cameron, having his name attached to it means that the studios won't get to run all over del Toro to "tone it down" or some other such nonsense. |

I had thought that I previously posted this, but can't seem to find it. Huge 13 page article from the New Yorker interviewing Del Toro, lots of Moutntains of Madness information in there. http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2011/02/07/110207fa_fact_zalewski |

Nope. Universal got cold feet about an R-rated horror epic. What del Toro is actually shooting is another film, called Pacific Rim. Del Toro confirmed last night that rather than starting soon, ATMOM was "The opposite- Dead. – G" SAD FARSKY IS SAD. |

A hard-R at that budget these days is unheard of. Also, it might be absolutely mind blowing and amazing (not to mention original), so you know it was dead before it began. |

I hope the Universal Execs are swallowed whole, and slowly digested over the course of a millenium when the Great Old Ones return to their proper place as rulers of all creation. |
