The Glade 4.0

So, sitting down (again) to try to hash out a(nother) decent, original story idea.

What I have so far (in brainstorm format):

Idea 1.) (Written about a paragraph of this so far)

Genre = steampunk-ish (some tech mixed with high fantasy)

Main character is a former evil dictator/ruler/military officer searching for atonement

Companion is a shape-shifting woman -- other form is some kind of mammal, dunno what yet -- probably travels with main reluctantly, may even be a former victim of his.

Setting = either an alternate Earth period, current Earth but far future, or another planet altogether

"Magic" will be based on runes, with all-controlling runes (or single rune) being the crux of the story.


Idea 2.) (Written some on this as well, but it's been sitting on the back burner for over a year now, came to me in a series of dreams.)

Genre = Sci-fi

Setting = 10,000 years from present, Earth is in ice age, but ice age is coming to an end.

Part focus on what's happening down on Earth -- follows a Tracker (man who uses stealth tech to track down people, not necessarily to kill them, kind of like a bounty hunter/odd jobs doer); other focus on colony that left Earth once ice age hit to colonize planet orbiting Alpha Centauri. Something bad happens on a global scale, and people are forced into a giant colony in the sky.
