Ok, so ... this should be self-explanatory. If it's not, that's your problem for being a slacker.

Barry. Because that was his name on the 1991 tv show. And I am one of the four people in the world who enjoyed it.

I loved that show but he was a mash up of Barry and Wally.

WTF are you...

Okay, fine. Wally. Because, let's be honest, I'm just plain too young for Barry.

I'd let you borrow the whole series on DVD if ya lived close (assuming you don't have it). :D

Barry. I might have gone with DCAU Wally but the writers of the series didn't have any idea how to handle him and he just ended up comic relief (other than the one fight with BrainLuthoriac where they had him perform as he should have in every single fight). The most powerful superhero in the DC universe shouldn't be comic relief.

Wally is comic relief. He's always been comic relief. And it was until "The Race Against Time" that Wally realized he was the Fastest Being in existence.

Yes, but at the same time someone who can move at the speed of light shouldn't be tripped by someone who just sticks a foot out in front of him...

I don't have a problem with them making him a clown, and being silly, just with how useless they made him in any serious situation. It's so golden age...

Timmit:

Oh, yeah, I can understand that, but depending on when we're talking about Wally ... there are points in time that could have happened. After Barry's Death, Wally couldn't break 700 mph for a very long time. And let's be real, Wally is faster-than-light; Wally is the fasted speedster ever, in point of fact.

That said, I honestly made this thread because I wanted to know what people thought about Barry and Wally. Let's face it, I'm definitely in the Wally West camp. Jay Garrick, Max Mercury, Barry Allen? These guys all had their place, but they're not The Flash. Barry died. Barry Allen died saving the Universe, which by the way is a big problem with the Flash. He does it way to often (right Kaffis?). But, Barry died. And bringing Barry back is worse than bringing Bucky back. And, well, seriously ...

Wally West literally spent so much time living in the shadow of the truest hero in the DC Universe that when he finally became the Flash (and I mean this in the philosophical sense of "becoming") ... he hadn't supplanted or replaced Barry; he'd surpassed Barry.

Yeah, but those times when that could have happened weren't the era that the JL cartoons were based on. They just couldn't handle a character that SHOULD be able to defeat the entire JLA (including Batman and Superman) at once...

Wally West is more fun, but Barry was the one I grew up with so I voted for him.

Comic book character resurrection is more the rule than the exception, from my admittedly limited experience.

Also, I thought Green Lantern was the most powerful comic book character...?

It's a toss up between Hal Jordan and Wally West, not the Green Lantern and the Flash.
