I took the kids and their significant others out to dinner yesterday, and then we all went to "The Lemp Brewery Haunted House". We've made a tradition of doing haunted houses with the kids and I was pretty psyched about going.
$20 each for tickets online, and there was much attention given to the "$2 off special coupon" and how one goes about getting the coupon. OK, we're talking $16 here, not a huge amount, but 10% is 10% and a penny saved is a penny earned. I went out of my way to get coupons and then tried to order the tickets.
Nope, no mechanism exists to apply the discount to on-line ticket purchase, even though it promotes both prominently on the web site. There is a "promotion code" field that would have been perfect for that, so I sent an e-mail to the three contact addresses asking for help. One of the three individuals replied and told me that I was out of luck. So, what the heck, mark it up to "nice try, better luck next time".
Dinner was great, but the haunted house sucked. The fake fog caked the lining of my nostrils and I was snotting out dark matter all last night. The attraction centered around walking through the converted caverns under St. Louis configured in a dark maze of pathetic half-assed scenes of generic horror type carnage covered in a layer of some sort of powder. Nothing original, just 30 minutes of what amounted to the same scene over and over - fake decomposed bodies in random disarray.
It wouldn't have been so bad had last years tour of "The Darkness" not been so great.
If you have a chance, go to see "The Darkness" and ignore all other StL haunted attractions.
