I really hate how TV shows take a several month break, so they can show 3 or 4 more episodes before the end of the season. Really, this is so stupid of the networks...they don't even advertise how long until new shows resume, so if you're not careful you can miss them. Why don't they all take a lesson from what Fox (gasp!) did with 24, and simply start filming far enough in advance that by the time they start a new season, all episodes are already completed? Hey, I'm looking at you - Stargate Universe (RIP) Burn Notice White Collar (which restarted last night!) Leverage House ...and others. If the "midseason finales" were more predictable in scheduling, I wouldn't be so irritated, but this type of stupidity is more and more making me think I should just wait until the end of the season and get the whole thing together. |

I equally bothered by FX and their infamous multi-year hiatus between seasons... Grrrr.... |

Is this why some TV shows get broken up when they come to DVD? Cuz I was seriously pissed when I saw "Season 2.0" and "Season 2.5" - together, they cost more than any single season's worth of TV I'd seen up to that point. |

Sometimes but be careful because other times the version 2.X is just season 2 with some additional content like deleted scenes or commentary. |

Well, I've stopped buying TV on DVD - I just watch it on Netflix now - but thanks for the tip. |

I still watch House on Hulu, but due to all these breaks it has come down to an "oh, I should see if there are new House episodes" sort of thing instead of "I am currently watching House" instead. That show takes so many friggin breaks. I think I am fine with one break in the middle of the season. It can even be used as a sort of positive if the writers are agile enough to work with it well. I understand the realities involved, at least in situations other than when a show is guaranteed to run the full season. This is why it's so frustrating with House... they basically have guarantees on their ratings and such. I can't think of a reason for not writing and producing a full season in one swoop. It shouldn't take very long at all to produce most of those episodes assuming the writing is done. |
