And Tom Hardy is Bane. Dunno why people keep using Bane as a film villan, but whatever. |

If they stick to the storyline, Bane was a fantastic villain. Breaking some of the worst criminals out of Arkham Asylum, making Batman chase/catch them for months and then breaking Bruce Wayne's back in his own hideout? Could be pretty good ****. I'm sure that Nolan will treat him as the smart, dangerous criminal he really is, instead of a stupid henchman ala Juggernaut. |

As I commented when Raell pointed me to this, Bane's a good choice for a Nolan Batfilm. I'm looking forward to it, even if it's not Marvel. =P |

Farsky - Bane is a classic myth villain, big, dark, magic potion, very hard to kill, pure evil. He's attractive to the storytellers. |

Anne Hathaway as Catwoman is a failure of epic proportions. Tom Hardy as Bane will end the Nolan cycles of Batman films. |

Nitefox: I like Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. That said, Anne Hathaway is totally unfit for playing Catwoman in the same way Halle Berry was totally unfit for playing Catwoman. And, to be deadly serious, you can't put Bane on film and make him work, because Knightfall was mostly a disaster in and of itself. |

So of the actresses who have portrayed Catwoman, which one do you find closest to the ideal? Obviously Halle Berry is stricken from the running, but that leaves Julie Newmar, Eartha Kitt, Lee Meriwether, and Michelle Pfeiffer. |

I'm not sure any actress has ever had a chance to play Catwoman as Catwoman is/was in the comics. That said, I've always had a fondness for Lee Meriwether. |

Lenas: Enough money could have Nolan making more. That said, this film will be an utter disaster. |

I submit my formal disagreement so that I might quote myself at a later date with an "I told you so" after the new Batman movie is a blockbuster. |

I'm not sure where your distrust for Nolan comes from? |

Let's, for a moment, consider Joss Whedon to be the cinematic equivalent of Shakespeare that some members of the Glade find him to be (c.e. I like Whedon, just not THAT much) ...Now, let's consider Nolan to be in all possible ways Whedon's superior. In fact, let us just assume the Chris Nolan is the single greatest director and film sculptor in the history of the industry ... Uwe Boll would have better a chance making any Batman film that did not involve Bane superior to the result of Chris Nolan's flirtation with Bane. |

Why is it that you consider Bane to be such an unworkable main villain? |

Lenas wrote: Why is it that you consider Bane to be such an unworkable main villain? Because he's a horrible villain in general. He's not even well conceived or executed during the Knightfall saga. Indeed, the only reason that sequence of books works at all is Jean Paul Valley and the dynamic between him and Bruce.

Nope, not going to work one bit ... Selina makes a bad villain for a whole truckload of reasons. If they wanted a morally ambiguous Catwoman, they should have gone with Holly. |

Catwoman was never a good villain, more a second story burglar. She was best as the, as Khross put it, morally ambiguous associate that Batman only really caught when she crossed some line in the guano. Looking at the AH! on the height chart, I'm foreseeing more POW! BAM! KABONG! Adam West style of a movie, which is titally wrong for Nolan and the franchise right now. |

There's no way Nolan will allow his last Batman movie to be so hokey when the first two were so serious. |

I agree it is highly improbable, but the AH! worries me. p.s. Brady is too small and too white, to play Bane. Danny Trejo is too old to play him, but I'd have believed him a lot easier. |
