First time they've been to Arizona, so I couldn't miss it. Warm-up was the Aggrolites, a reggae band out of LA. Liked them a lot.
Shane McGowan was trashed, of course. Luckily, Spider Stacey was there to translate for him, and to help him along when Shane lost his place a couple of times. Surprisingly, Jem Finer did the vocal for "Thousands Are Sailing" instead of Shane. Two encores after a nice long set, ending with "Fiesta". Spider played the cymbal part of the song using a thin metal platter that he kept hitting on his head.
The crowd was surprisingly rowdier than the Flogging Molly concert I'd seen. Wound up being on the edge of a spontaneous middle of the room mosh pit...and I was wearing sandals. Ouch!
