Okay, I had never even heard of the show when it was actually on its three year run. Like Firefly, it was word of mouth that got me into it, long after it was cancelled. Unlike Firefly, there appears to be no impetus to find any way to revive it in another medium. I don't know why we continue to watch network television when most of the best shows get cancelled early. It just feeds my already misanthropic tendencies... the general public are idiots, and so most of what is popular sucks, and most of what is great gets ignored. Why didn't I even hear of this show? Maybe it was bad marketing, maybe the advertising for it wasn't up to par. (Or, it could be that we don't get UPN or CW networks in Canada so it wasn't even running here at the time.) I'm out of episodes to watch, and there will never be more. What happened in Neptune, California after season 3? Whatever became of those characters Rob Thomas made me love so much? I guess I'll have to go write fanfic or something to answer those questions myself. I think I'll go back and rewatch some other old cancelled series. |

Please don't turn into a slash author. I've already lost one old EQ friend to that black hole. |

Rob Thomas and Kristen Bell have both talked about doing a movie, but there's no enthusiasm from the studio to put that kind of money into it (I suppose I can't really blame them; even in a best-case scenario like Serenity, the film of a canceled TV show didn't exactly blow the doors off of the box office). They've also spoken about maybe taking it to comic form (akin to BtVS Season 8). From Wiki: Quote: Thomas stated that he was interested in writing a feature film based on the series, in the interest of providing closure to the storylines and character arcs. In September 2008, Michael Ausiello, now a writer for Entertainment Weekly, reported that Thomas still planned to make a film, even though he was busy with other projects. He met with Bell to discuss the plot, which would likely involve Veronica solving crime in college rather than as an FBI agent. Thomas felt that the "FBI scenario was more of a 'What if...?'", aimed at getting a fourth season, and that he "would want to bring back our key players, and it would be tough to believe that the FBI stationed Veronica in Neptune." Ausiello later reported that Enrico Colantoni would be involved in the project. Colantoni said that he was fully aware of the talks taking place, adding, "cult shows have translated well into the film arena. Nothing's official, but they're talking about it." In addition to the feature-film possibility, Thomas has had a meeting with DC Comics to talk about a Veronica Mars comic book series. In September 2008, Thomas told Entertainment Weekly that "I thought I had the idea broken, but I've hit a wall in the final act that I haven't quite figured out". Thomas exclaimed that he was very busy writing for Cupid and Party Down, both of which he created.[40] In January 2009, TV Guide reported that the film was Thomas' first priority after Cupid. Thomas noted that as well as writing the script, someone would need to pay for the film, but indicated that producer Joel Silver was ready to green-light the film. In June 2009, Bell said "I don't think it will ever happen, and here's why: [Series creator] Rob Thomas and I had a powwow, and we were both 100 percent on board. We took our proposal to Warner Bros. and Joel Silver told us that there is no enthusiasm [there] to make a Veronica Mars movie, and that is unfortunately a roadblock we cannot compete with." And hey, I spoke about it frequently on Rebooted (I managed to find it about halfway through its second season)! So did Kaffis. |

The highlight of my friend's college experience was being an extra on VM. He was playing hackey-sack behind her and the edit job was so bad they showed him walking two different directions shortly after. Was funny. |

Not that I ever had any interest in the show, but this is a classic example as to why when creating a new show, you should only aim for a single season and wrap everything up in that season. If the show is successful, you can always come up with something new for the second season. It pisses me off to no end when there's a series I like and then it gets canceled with all kinds of loose ends. |

To be fair, Veronica Mars' first two seasons wrapped up everything fairly tightly, and the third was more open-ended, but still a justifiable season-ender (though not as good of a series finale as the first two seasons' ends). The biggest hole left in VM fans' hearts is that they simply want more. More scathing Veroni-snark, more of the best father-daughter relationship on television, more of the smart neo-noir that the show was so exceptional at crafting. As an additional kick in the pants, series creator Rob Thomas altered the premise to make it more appealing to CW executives and shot a twelve-minute presentation of the VM that he was pitching as season four, where Veronica entered the FBI. Astonishingly those twelve minutes were almost as fascinating as everything else in the show, and served as a cruel reminder to fans of what might have been. |

I did not understand the appeal of this show, so I mimic Raltar in my sentiments. Network TV should wrap season-to-season totally unless they're **** sure of a "next" season, IMO. |

Veronica Mars actually did wrap up from season to season. (Season 3 wrapped up twice). |

Serious Moonlight Kirsten Bell Meg Ryan Timothy Hutton Justin Long Not that I endorse this film, but given the random serendipity of seeing a promo for a movie featuring Kirsten Bell (that isn't Fanboys)… I had to share. |

Actually, if Rob Thomas had gone in the direction of his proposed Season 4 trailer, jumping a few years into the future with Veronica working at the FBI, the Season 3 finale would have been entirely inadequate. There were too many loose ends, in fact, to do anything other than continue very shortly after the events of "The ***** is Back." I personally think there should have been an Episode 21 and likely 22 of Season 3. (There were 22 episodes in seasons 1 & 2, so the fact that there were only 20 episodes of season three is doubly insulting!) |

There were supposed to be, but The CW cut the episode order short. That's not to say that the season was truncated creatively; it was done in time for Thomas to end the season how he wanted, but it still had a couple of episodes sliced off. |

Party Down is a serious with some of the regulars from VM and I think Rob Thomas wrote it? Or at least has some part in creating it. Something else to look up. |
