Netflix's new pricing plan is going into effect on the 23rd, so it's about time to think of the available options. What are y'alls thoughts on the alternatives that are out there? Is there a single option that stands out more than the others? |

I already just have the streaming only package, so that's what I'll stick with. I have Hulu+ as well, and I tried Amazon but found it woefully lacking as a subscription based service. I've bought a few seasons "On Demand" though. Hulu+ and Netflix aren't really comparable- one focuses on current shows (but has some past ones) and the other focuses on past shows (but has some current ones). |

Netflix + Hulu Plus get most everything we need, with iTunes (or Amazon Instant Video) batting cleanup. We also have Amazon Prime, but it's not for the streaming stuff (it's for the shipping). |

Netflix streaming only is all we have here, and it's selection is still not nearly as good as in the USA. With that said, it's still worth the $7.99 Cdn a month (yeah, I know, that's like $8.15 USD). However, it's not adequate for everything I watch. We got rid of the overpriced cable/satellite options long ago. We use torrents for everything we plan to watch. Netflix streaming we use in place of "channel surfing." |

Netflix streaming and Comcast streaming here. Occasionally I will download something off of Hotfilesearch but downloading things is annoying. |

Netflix says that they did not hardcap streaming to 1. http://technolog.msnbc.msn.com/_news/20 ... one-device Quote: "No Netflix member is limited to less than two concurrent streams," Netflix spokesman Steve Swasey sent in an email. "A few Netflix members have heard differently from us, which is an error that we are correcting."

Recently read a comparison article, and even with the price hike netflix's streaming catalog blew everyone else out of the water by a wide margin. I have tried Hulu plus and amazon streaming, and nothing else has much depth. As well, I did not like paying Hulu to watch commercials. This may change when the Starz deal runs out in March, but for now they're kicking *** on content. If the idiot studios all proceed to create their "own" streaming content (such as HBO Go, which it is rumored starz is going to pursue as well), it will fragment the market horribly and send everyone back to bittorrent. Way to go, idiot studios that are behind the times. |

I use Netflix streaming only (I never had discs sent home even when I had their premium service). I also use Amazon for some newer stuff (i.e. Eureka and Warehouse 13). The reason I like this is that I get to watch them the day after they come out on live TV, and once they show up in my library, I just log into Amazon and have it download directly to my Tivo. I get the best of both worlds. Near real-time access to the latest shows, and they are completely commercial free (unless you count product placement). |

Do you have a season pass for those, Midgen? |

Lex Luthor wrote: Netflix streaming and Comcast streaming here. The problem with "Comcast streaming" is that it's limited to the channels to which you subscribe. If you don't already pay for cable TV + Showtime, for example, you can't watch Dexter, and if you're not already a cable subscriber it's a pretty hefty increase in your monthly expenses to go that route.

My roommate really wants to keep the cable though, and also I have my parents' login. They have HBO. If not for them I wouldn't have cable. |

Voted "deal with the price hike" as I don't feel it really went up all that much and it's easier for me to hang onto something I'm already using than to switch to something new. |

IPTorrents has been my number 1 option for years now. Netflix just supplements it. |

I don't use optical drives except for OS installs (very Hipster-ish, I know), so I picked option one. |
