So...who else watched it? What did you think of the premiere?

DVR'd last night, haven't watched yet.

I'm watching it now, they just got to the camp or whatever...

The beginning was trite with the population control thing. Nothing grabbed me yet (I'm 37 minutes into the 2 hour episode).

Looks like a lot of eco-alarmisim so far. When does Capt. Planet appear?

What Kaffis said.

I haven't gotten a chance yet, it's bookmarked for tonight.

I like several of the actors/actresses in it, so I have high hopes.

I thought it was meh actually, it may get better as the season goes on I will give it a couple of episodes.

Spoiler:
I thought the dinosaurs looked cheesy, I also don't like that with all of the real dinosaurs available they made up some new ones (Slashers). The whole prison escape was a bit too much to swallow as was getting into the facility and getting through the portal. I would have liked a little more info on how they realized the portal went where it did since it is one way, how did they know it didn't dump the first people into a black hole?

Spoiler:
They obviously have some method of communicating with the future, based on several things said in the episode.

Spoiler:
Well, they did have the bit about the first probe sent back, so maybe they knew at least it would sustain human life.

Also, while I didn't love the premiere, it wasn't bad enough for me to instantly delete the show from my DVR, so at least I have hope.

Can't watch the show, writers don't even know they're off by ~70 million years with the Allosaurus and Brachiosaurus. Characters are all super cliche, too. Just once I wanna see a teenager on a show that doesn't rebel.

Just fired up the premiere. Let's see how this goes.

Wasn't impressed. For a $20 million pilot episode, it felt frustratingly low-budget and timid in scope. Very Syfy-y to me. Production values weren't great, the script was mediocre at best, direction was lifeless.

It's got Spielberg behind it, but nothing felt like it bore his fingerprints. It's also got some interesting talent on the writing staff, including well-regarded alumni of Buffy, Angel, Lost, Reaper and 24.

It might turn into something interesting, but that'll have to come with future episodes and development; I didn't get a surfeit of promise off of the premiere.

Most expensive television show ever.

Failing miserably against two and a half brain cells.

"So, let's make a show with Dinosaurs!"
"Great! That'll be unlike anything else on TV!"
"Exactly! We can have a doctor, a cop, and teens who sneak out into the woods to get drunk!"

Haven't been able to watch yet due to company and being outvoted in favor of Inception :(

It's like a ten-year-old wrote the idea for this thing. "Imma make a TV show! And it'll be in the future, and there'll be army guys, and time travel...and...and...dinosaurs! And laser beams! Pew pew pew!"

A show like Terra Nova needs Farscape level production values at a minimum.

Bah, too much complaining.

I liked it- decent actor chemistry for a pilot, seems like it will be a fun plot, fun scenery as well.

I know lots of people don't like it when it seems like a plot is too "cookie cutter", but if a plot type works, go with it.

Farscape's production values were only a touch above Babylon 5s.

Terra Nova's production values are closer to the movie Avatar...

So they need to add some muppets?

They're nowhere near Avatar. They're about two steps above a Syfy Original Series. And again, this was for a single episode that cost 20 million dollars.

It's not something I generally comment on (or even notice), but it also had the single worst audio editing I've ever seen in a major studio show. Seriously, whomever handles their ADR editing should be...not handling their ADR editing anymore (I'm tired).
