a.k.a. "Låt den rätte komma in"

Quote:
Oskar, a bullied 12-year old, dreams of revenge. He falls in love with Eli, a peculiar girl. She can't stand the sun or food and to come into a room she needs to be invited. Eli gives Oskar the strength to hit back but when he realizes that Eli needs to drink other people's blood to live he's faced with a choice. How much can love forgive? Let The Right One In is a story both violent and highly romantic, set in the Stockholm suburb of Blackeberg in 1982.

I picked it up on my Netflix instant queue last night and thoroughly enjoyed. It's all subtitled, so stay away if you don't like, but it's a pretty solid movie. Vampire love story with 12 year olds, hadn't seen that yet.

Right now on IMDB it sits at a 8.1/10 and lists 56 award winnings with 11 other nominations.

Fantastic, fantastic film.

Be warned, though, there's a major issue with the subtitles on a lot of the DVDs out there. It took me forever to find a theatrical subtitled version.

The one on Netflix (instant watch, at least) had perfect subtitles so far as I could tell.

Necroposting the hell out of this thread to say I loved this film. Highly recommend it to open-minded fans of vampire flicks and anyone who enjoyed Harold and Maude.

It's a fantastic film. It's getting an American remake (of course), from the director of Cloverfield), entitled Let Me In. It...doesn't look horrible (right now), but I'm scared that the delicate balance of beauty and horror of the original will be lost.

I saw this a while ago and it just wasn't scary or creepy. It felt very.... French to me.... ennui is the word I am searching for I think. It was just presented so matter of factly and the cinematography was so stark that it really turned me off. It might just be that I couldn't read the actors/actresses tone but their lack of emoting made it feel wooden to me.
