We had a thread before, but then the Glade went boom.

Sir Ian says The Hobbit scripts are finished, has read them.

William Stryker as a dwarf? I can see it.

He'd be absolutely perfect as Thorin Oakenshield...especially if they let him use his native Scot accent.

OK, that buoys my hopes somewhat. No one's gonna toss that Dwarf. :)

Wish you'd at least mention the actor's name when you post links like that. I read through the whole article wondering wtf you were smoking 'cuz there's no reference to anybody by that name in the article, then had to look up Brian Cox on IMDB to get the character reference.

The bad guy in X-Men 2 who is trying to kill all the mutants, played by Scot actor Brian Cox (though he affected a mild southern american accent for that role. To see him with his native accent, watch Rob Roy.)

To see him affect an Irish accent, see Super Troopers.

I'd forgotten he was in both movies. (Probably because I love Rob Roy and will watch it every once in a while, but hated Braveheart and won't watch it again.)

Not a criticism of the movie itself, which was well done (other than being terribly historically inaccurate), but more that I hate how watching that movie makes me feel. I don't like the story at all, the movie loses me early on and gets progressively worse (although many of the battles cheer it up a bit. I particularly liked the Irish charge...)

Were there other movies with battle scenes on a scale equal to or larger than that one?

Edit: I think you already got that point, but I was meaning prior to Braveheart.

Don't know. The battle scenes were the highlight for me...

So... just so I'm clear.... you don't like Braveheart, a blockbuster action/drama movie, because it's historically inaccurate?

You must not like 99.7% of the movies you watch. It is ok to turn off your brain and enjoy a movie just because it's a movie, just so you know. :D

No, i mentioned that merely as a side point. I don't like Braveheart, as I said above, because of how it makes me feel. I hated every second of watching it, apart from a few bright points around the battles. From the moment they slit Murron's throat, right up until his loss and torture/execution, I wanted to look away and watch something else. I did not enjoy the movie.

Well, if you didn't like the movie because it made you feel uncomfortable, I can understand that. There's several movies that fall into that category for me. I think most people are flabbergasted at the idea that someone didn't like the movie based on the story and how it was told (I especially enjoy the dichotomy between the leprous Bruce and Longshanks). But, even then, I get the same reaction when I give my opinion of Blade Runner or The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.

When will they understand that Hobbits are FAT?? Or, pudgy, at least. That was the second-worst thing about the LoTR movies.

Worse than epic fail. Jesus Christ. I had high hopes for this movie, but I don't think I could take it seriously with him as Bilbo.

LMAO, that was single handedly the best line I have heard delivered with an Irish Accent right after "God tells me he can get me out of this mess, but he's pretty sure you're ****."
