The really weird thing is, I was musing over how ricockulous a WoT chart like this would be just yesterday, when I was lamenting that Leigh didn't have time to finish the Reread before the latest installment. The timing is eerie, but the chart above is a thing of awesomeness.

That Lord of the Rings chart has an error. Says there were elves at Helms Deep and I only recall a single one being there.

Looks like they used the movie instead of the books.

You are correct, sir. For verification, note that Arwen dips Westward (up, on the diagram) to meet the Hobbits at the Nazghul's defeat. If it were the books, she'd have stayed put until joining and wedding Aragorn post-ring-melting, and it would be Glorfindel at the river, instead.

Pretty awesome..

Didn't Samwise eventually go to the West as well?

He was offered to, as a Ringbearer (however short the duration). I think he declined, however, as he didn't bear it long enough to prolong his life significantly and he had family ties that were stronger than the desire to retire to Elven bliss-lands.

From the Lord of the Rings wiki:

Quote:
After his wife died in the year 62 of the Fourth Age (Shire Reckoning 1482), Sam entrusted the Red Book to Elanor and left Middle-earth to sail across the Sea and be reunited with Frodo in the Undying Lands, though they would eventually die a mortal death.

But that lines joined not "in the West" but on the "ship to the West". Sam and Frodo weren't on the same ship to the West, and their reunification in the West is not shown on this.
