Happy to sad in milliseconds.
47 Ronin is being remade. One of the greatest and last of the pre-WWII Japanese films, many leads, an ensemble movie, an epic tale, made in two movies to get the entire tale told. It has been remade several times in Japan. It is the story of 47 samurai, loyal to their master who they see as one of the young leaders of Japan, a good man. He is betrayed by a man who has been sent to help him set up a proper welcoming event for he Emperor. The young master makes an unforgivable mistake in front of the Emperor out of frustration with his trainer. The young master has no honorable choice but to commit seppuku, and so he does. The Samurai are dismissed and become master-less ronin. They as a group decide to go rogue and avenge their master. They do. Fantastic story, essentially Japanese, I've had much respect for the creators of the 1941 film and what little else I've seen on the story.
47 Ronin is being remade as a one movie release. Keanu Reeves will be heading a star studded cast.
I have no hope for this movie.
