As reported by ABC, CBS and Huffington Post.

Seriously, though - who out there wants these books in e-format but hasn't already pirated them? It would have been fantastic if she'd done this a few years back, but now?

Thoughts?

I bought the hardbacks, so I never felt very bad about downloading "pirate" ebook versions.

I'm willing to bet the majority of us don't view digital piracy as a solution.

Early 2007, before TDH came out. (And actually, there were pirate copies of TDH online before the paper hit the shelves.)

It's not without its perils though. I got several chapters into "book 5" before it turned weird and I realized that one was a fan-fiction fake and I had to download another copy. (No, Harry does NOT sleep with Hermione.)

Haha. I can just imagine reading that and deciding JK hD gotten a lot more adult in her audience choice in book 5.

Your primary oversight, I think, is thinking that only people who were reading the books at the height of their popularity want to read them now. The HP series is one with, uh, shelf life (thank you folks, I'm here all week!), and will stand alongside the other great fantasy series; as such, new readers are coming to them all the time.

I mean, it's not like Twilight or something. :D

Good point. New readers will continue to pick this up for some time to come. I'm just sayin' it's too late for some. Wanting HP in e-format and hearing the author say "nope, never gonna happen" drove many to piracy.

Sadly (fortunately?) failing to followup on ones cash cow makes one rethink their life choices.
