Attended Scott Kurtz and Kris Straub's An Evening With Scott and Kris on Sunday after PAX. Had wonderful front row seats to the event, and the event itself was quite awesome. We got to see and meet Scott and Kris as well as all of their guests: MC Frontalot, Mikey Neumann (Borderlands creator), Sptehen Toulouse (Stepto of Xbox Live fame), Patrick Rothfuss (author), and four guys who work for NASA that are a part of the team who landed the Mars Rover (seriously).

Patrick was great, and he even read to us one his books he wrote that is a children's book (but not quite for children). But one of the best parts was when Kris Straub asked if Patrick would read a book Kris had been working on: 'The Even More Name of the Winds, Plural - A fanfiction by Kris Straub which will be canonized by Patrick Rothfuss when he reads it on stage.'

It was hilarious. And while my wife did get some recording of it (they had no beefs with pics and recordings, as long as they get credit and isn't sold for profit), fortunately the entire thing has been uploaded and transcribed on Kris' own website. They asked Mikey Neumann to help out with the reading as well.

For your viewing pleasure

Sidenote: The NASA guys were fun guys to meet. They did some interesting artwork on the posters they were signing for everyone in line. The gal ahead of us got a detailed penis and balls shooting, of course, a rocket toward Mars (their boss wasn't too thrilled when he saw it, but he still laughed and let it go). We let them have the entire back-face of the poster to use as a blank canvas (which they excitedly ate up). We didn't quite want the penis, so instead we got some other excellent art. Good enough that the other guests were too shy to even think about defacing it with their own signatures (so they signed the front of the page, with the words "flip for awesome."
