Anyone have any suggestions? I need some help destressing from work and just want some music I can put my headphones on and relax to. Check out the band Radical Face. 2 albums out, they are some of my favorite chill albums at the moment, especially the album Ghost. Also check out the self titled album from Elliott Smith. |

Bluegrass. Seriously. I've got a Pandora station called "Man of Constant Sorrow" and I love it. Something about those fiddles, banjos and guitars that smooth me out...take me somewhere else. |

They run a show "Banks of the Ohio" that is 100% bluegrass. |

Best one for just chilling is "Fumbling Towards Ecstasy". Loreena McKennitt does some excellent celtic and middleastern themed folk music. My typical driving mix of 60's-through-now tends to be all "chilling" music, but it's not one artist, it's spread across dozens. |

The Shipping News Soundtrack is my go-to chill music. Also, I find Ellis Paul to be good relaxation music. I picked up his album, American Jukebox Fables several years back when I was listening to Pandora more and discovered it there. One of these days I should see if any of his other albums scratch that folksy comfort itch the same way. |

Certainly a lot of her music is not chill out, but some is. Ex: Hide and Seek Bjork. Probably not everyone's cup of tea. This can be very hit or miss, even with me. But there is some music which definitely qualifies. All is Full of Love, Violently Happy (she looks exactly like Bill Kaulitz of Tokio Hotel in this video...), Moon Even More Stuff Here are my Pandora stations that I listen to a lot for chill music: Thievery Corporation Radio, Trip Hop/Ambient/Downtempo, Mazzy Star Radio I think all of those will work. Let me know if they don't. And, of course, check out soma.fm. In particular, these stations: Groove Salad, Lush, Drone Zone, Space Station, Beat Blender, and Digitalis. Of these, I listen to Space Station and Groove Salad frequently. |

Bruce Lee The Chemical Brothers - One Too Many Mornings Chicane - Offshore (Ambient Mix) Moby - Hyenas Flica - J Massive Attack - Teardrop Quantic - Archipelago In and of itself it's only an hour, but maybe something interests you and it leads to other music. :p Most of this stuff was taken straight from the old Sirius "Chill" channel. I think it's still around on Sirius-XM. I really enjoyed the channel as I often like music that is relaxing, sometimes especially if there are no vocals (or simple ones, at least) as is the case of many of these. Note 1: Disappear Here has a normal version without any Bruce Lee clips in it. This is probably a random fanmade remix. I still sorta like this one though. :p Note 2: The Flica track has about 4 minutes of silence tacked onto the end. I should find a new video to replace that with in the playlist. Just a heads up to skip it. |

Sweet! A thread I can really contribute to! I am a huge fan of chilled trance and "chillout" subgenres of techno. I assume that you're looking for music with a downtempo beat, and less of the ambient (little-to-no beat). Though if you're looking for ambient, I've got some good stuff too. Some of this stuff is less electronic than others, but all are downtempo (which I assume is what you're looking for?). - Delerium is great. Can't go wrong with any of their stuff. They use a lot of different female vocalists for their songs (including Sarah McLachlan). Flowers Become Screens is their most well-known (and rightly so). I'd recommend getting the radio edit of the song, as the original from Semantic Spaces is a bit too long and doesn't flow as well (in my opinion). I also really like a song they do called Paris. - William Orbit. He's a big time producer (produced some Madonna records) but an awesome musician in his own right. Water from a Vine Leaf is one of my favorites, but definitely check out his other stuff too. - Cafe Del Mar puts out albums of a huge variety of artists, all with downtempo stuff. Seriously, do some searching for "Cafe Del Mar" even on youtube and you will find a TON of downtempo music. Really good stuff, and you have well over a dozen CDs to choose from. One of my favorites from their collection is from Nacho Sotomayor called Dreams (image used in the video might be NSFW) -Enigma. Mostly known for their hits Sadeness Pt. 1 (a song about the Marquis de Sade) and Return to Innocence. But their entire collection is nothing but awesome downtempo songs. Even their lesser-known songs are very good |

For what it's worth, my "go to Chill music" is an old CD I bought in the early 90's. Moodfood by Moodswings. The entire track list is here, if you wanna check it out. Here are two of my favorites from the album: This is just a really beautiful piece, and one of my favorite songs. Spoiler: And this one just gives me goosebumps every time I hear it. Not sure if this meets the 'Chill Music' standard, but I love it. I discovered Flim and the BB's when CD's were first coming out, and after spending a fortune on a Denon CD player, was seeking out any direct to digital discs [DDD] I could get my hands on. I believe they were one of, if not the first to release a CD recorded directly to digital medium. |

I've found acoustic guitar music to be really relaxing. Favorite artists are Erik Mongrain, Thomas Leeb, Antoine Dufour, Andy McKee, and Kris Dollimore. I've also found some light reggae to be pretty relaxing. I have an Aggrolites CD that I really enjoy (nice if you want a good vibe but not slow music), and a reggaeish CD from a side band of the bassist from Flogging Molly called Nathan Maxwell and the Original Bunny Gang. I'd also reccomend Leona Naess. I occasionaly use her Comatised album to go to sleep to. |

Yeah, angry and aggressive music is great when I am already angry. For me, it too helps me release that energy faster and instead of getting me more angry it actually helps it go away faster. But when I just want to relax and I am not already angry, then cranking some Pantera doesn't work as well for me. I'm probably less angry in my older age than when I was a teen/early 20 year-old. Now, if we're moving this thread to songs that relax the poster then I've got more to add. - (You're) My World by Joe Satriani. No matter what mood I am in, no matter how angry, upset, stressed, freaked, or whatever; whenever I start this song it immediately calms me right the hell down. If I had kryptonite, this would likely be it. Mostly because it's a great, relaxing, and emotional song. But also partly because it instantly takes me back to my high school days, chilling out with a buddy of mine while we played this song together (he played rhythm on a ukulele of all things and I played lead on my electric guitar). - For Eamonn by Nightnoise. Around 1997 I was looking for a good celtic CD that I could play as background music while getting into character on my Ranger in a MUD (DragonRealms). I stumbled across one called Celtic Twilight Vol. 2. This was the first song on the CD and it's been my favorite ever since. I don't care if an acoustic guitar isn't period, it's a damn great song and it's like sonic valium to me. |
