Okay, so it seems we've got more readers here than I realized. Somebody to talk to!

However, it appears that those readers range from just starting, to stalled mid-way, to current. So let's spoiler tag and label spoilers through (or for) what.

I'm nearing completion of Turn Coat, and I have to say this about it (Turn Coat spoilers):
Spoiler:
The shapeshifter battle between Injun Joe and the skinwalker was fantastic to read, and delightfully iconic. I was so thrilled when Joe showed up, I'd been secretly hoping he'd be involved with its demise from the start. It's also really nice, this time around, to see some variety of wizardry; the series shows us Dresden's (and his foes, I suppose) battle magic almost exclusively. To see McCoy's brutal, swift efficiency was quite glee-inducing, and I found the variety of fire-magic the collective Wardens were throwing to be intriguing and evocative, if you'll pardon the pun.

I've read all of 'em to date, probably going to start re-reading in anticipation of the next installment coming next year.

Heh, we named our rescued Golden Retriever Dresden. Originally we were going to go with Mouse, but on the drive to meet him I jokingly mentioned Dresden, and my wife loved the idea (she's read the books as well).

I love the books, but I have a lot of problems with them (that don't at all make me enjoy them less).

The magic users in Dresden Files all seem kind of slow (at least when it comes to combat magic)...for example, I can't be the only one who reads him hurling fire magic or force magic at the fey and thinks "why doesn't he carry a bag of nails around and work out a spell that throws those nails at baddies like a shotgun or tiny heat-seeking missiles or something".

Just an example, but honestly, there are much better ways they could be using their magic in battle then "MOAR FIRE! *FWOOSH*" or "OMG FORCE PUSH!"...

Also, he spends a LOT of time whining about his shower only having cold water when he could just wiggle his fingers and make a magic water heater...
