If it's legit, it makes Luke look more badass and should have been left in. |

According to the video description, it's from the 'Bonus Materials' on the blu-ray... |

We discussed this before. It was pointed out due to EU proliferation and the like that Luke Building his own light saber means more than it did when ROtJ first came out. So one can see why it may have been deleted for time and lack of the proper context. That said, if we're going to super duper special extra edition (now in 3D!) the heck out of the series, we should have added this in. |

Exactly why I said they should have put it back in with one of their numerous edits. Maybe next time. *ducks* |

I didn't see any ducks in the clip. You are mistaken. |

Yep it's legit. It's always been known that Luke's "hero" saber (prop used for up close shots) had a removable panel that showed internal components which (the rumor was way back when) referenced this scene. If you didn't catch it, Luke built the saber in Obi-Wan's old domicile using parts and plans he found there (and is why his saber design is similar to Obi-Wan's). As to why it's green? Because it was originally blue, but it didn't look quite right against the blue sky on the sail barge. So, they just changed it to a color that had a better contrast. |

I believe it was in the original theatrical release. It looks very familiar. As to any post theatrical release, I couldn't tell you for sure. My VCR stopped working tears ago and I'm not sure if i still have the tape anyway. |

It was posted here about a year ago Mike...it was never part of the original film. |
