I saw this trailer before Resident Evil on Sunday. I was like "no thanks!" |

I don't know why I went into this thread thinking it was a remake of I Remember Mama. Too much caffeine for me today. Or perhaps not enough. |

Wow. I don't know that I could see that in a dark theater. I experienced repeated chills just watching this video, in a well-let room in broad daylight. Maybe an outdoor matinee. Maybe. |

Looks like it's going down the same path of the type of scary movies I enjoy. But I am not sure if it will complete it's journey along that path, or if it will eventually veer off. My gut says the latter may happen. I like psychological horror far more than any other type. Let my brain do the work and it's guaranteed it will do a far better job than anything you can throw at me visually. Monster movies are more like the "dumb, popcorn, turn-off-your-brain action movie" to me. They are fun and have their place in my library, but they aren't my special favorites. This movie looks like it could turn into a monster movie from a psychological horror beginning. I remain very guardedly optimistic. That, and the word "mama" kind of detracts from a horror buildup for me. It just doesn't sound scary, even when whispered by a creepy little girl. |

If Guillermo del Toro has anything to do with it, I'd bet the milk money it will be done well. |

But he's not directing it, he's involved with producing it. Which typically means, "My name is attached so I can make a return from my investment in it, but I won't have really anything at all to do with the movie." |

Del Toro is as hands-on with his producing as his protégés request. Having his name attached generally is a seal of quality, as all of the GdT-produced films I've seen have been at worst solid and interesting ('Julia's Eyes') and at best fantastic ('The Orphanage'). |

This movie was **** terrible. Wasn't even remotely scary and had the stupidest ending I've ever seen in my entire life. What a waste of time. |
