I was actually coming here to necropost the old WD thread to let anyone who doesn't know or hasn't seen Season 2 yet that it's on Netflix. I've burned through five episodes so far, starting another right now. I know some of what happens, but it's still pretty fun. I know people wanted more zombies, but I'm liking it. We know the zombies are around, and need to get into the meat of all the character-driven story lines. I've decided that I'm Dale. Or maybe a cross between Dale and Nerdy Asian Guy. And that's the fun of it, of course, trying to visualize how you would respond in that situation. |

I was talking to Moose about this show today, trying to convince him to give it a chance. I just finished Season 2 on Netflix. I have to say I do not consider it as good as B5 or BSG, but that is because I consider them to be the best TV in a long time. I would definitely put this show in the caliber of Firefly though. My observations: I am actually surprised... a zombie TV show that focuses on the people and not the zombies. normally we watch Zombies to see how horrifically they can rip people apart. But in Walking Dead we see how people deal with the whole situation in a realistic way. We see the moral and psychological effects of them killing other people to protect themselves and we see the pain of everyday **** like is it worth having a baby anymore? Arguments; as social groups break down into those willing to kill humans and those who will not. Or those who feel the Zombies are sick and can be cured. The main character Rick is one of those guys who everyone seems to look to for leadership and he gravitates towards it, but never asked for it, and all of the hardships it entails. I would rank it with Firefly, not necessarily the Joss Whedon is god category, but for enjoyment and being able to tug at the base of what it is to be human, and the descent into being no better than the bad guy even though you say you are different. Zombies are the medium, but the monsters are not only the dead, but the living as well. |

The problem with The Walking Dead is that the live characters are just as retarded as the zombies. |

Lenas wrote: The problem with The Walking Dead is that the live characters are just as retarded as the zombies. I thought of this today, while walking down to my now-spooky laundry room. Ya know, it's not just that Rick has started doing stupid things - he kind of got himself in a bad way from the git-go, in the first (?) episode, when he dropped into the tank. OK, not that he was all that experienced by that point, but he's certainly not shown the best judgment at all times. Which is what's fascinating. I can't say that in a similar situation in the heat of the moment, I would make all the correct decisions that look like what you should have done, in hindsight. Heh, I tore up a credit card offer that came in the mail today for my mom. She's not gonna be getting more credit cards, at her age, and I know she doesn't want any more. But as I'm ripping it up, a thought crossed my mind about making decisions for other people, and when that's the right thing to do. Maybe I'm just impressionable, but a show like this does make me think about some fundamental philosophical questions. One question that occurred to me, too - how much time has elapsed since the beginning of Season 1? Kind of seems like about only two or three months have gone by, right? Maybe six? I suppose I could look it up (I'm sure someone has geeked out on this and counted the days). |

The S2 finale was 83 days after the global outbreak. |

According to the WD Wiki timeline... it seemed right to me. http://walkingdead.wikia.com/wiki/Telev ... w_Timeline Global Outbreak Day +63 wrote: At the CDC, Dr. Jenner makes morning transmission and states Wildfire started 194 days ago and global outbreak was 63 days ago.

Got it. "Wildfire" is what I was thinking of. |

You should take the test. Sure, I'd like to be BAMF Daryl or Rick, but in reality I'm more like Dale (or Glenn, minus the hot-Southern chick part). |

I got Rick. I have only seen part of the first season and I'm horrible with names of people. Rick is the guy who was in the hospital at first -the cop guy or his cop buddy? |

But, I think she's coming along, looks to be a pretty good shot and doesn't take much ****. Better than some of the other women on the show, given that I don't really care if my clothes are clean, and can cook for myself. |
