Anyone go see this? I have to admit I had no idea the kind of politicking that went into getting the 13th amendment passed. It's more about this than it is the war and battlefields, so be warned if that's not your tea. However when they do, they do a great job of showing the chaos and carnage. Tommy Lee Jones was stellar (of course) as leader of the "radical right" and it was wonderful to see Mary Todd Lincoln render him speechless. The boy playing Tad Lincoln stole nearly every scene he was in. The actor playing Lincoln I think gave great insight into the personality. Several of his monologues were excellently delivered. Especially the one about Ethan Allen and the portrait of George Washington in the English privy. My friend and I decided its the best part of the movie. |

I thought it was good, enjoyed it while I was watching, but I'm in no rush to watch it again. |
