What are your questions?

Where did you find planks of wood, how long did it take you do the quest, what were the hardest parts, what did you use the BFG for (melee, archery, toy)?

Planks I found in Iceclad shortly before they were removed from the game. I had them sitting in my bank, not knowing what they were for, for a few months before I found out about the quest. At that point I was level 60 and finishing the quest was actually quite easy. I used the BFG as a status symbol since it was then unobtainable. It was extremely useful for raising archery by meleeing with it, and also positioning mobs with the knockback.

I think I remember them being on the northern shore of the biggest island. That's going back quite a few years though. I think I remember the wood being the bottleneck too.

As far as usage, I think the other main use was some big gap in a dungeon that you couldn't quite get over, so you'd duel the raid one at a time and punt them over the gap. I may be totally hallucinating on this one since I don't remember which dungeon. I want to say Sleeper's Tomb but that can't be right. I think it wasn't prenerf Inner Acrylia because that was the stupid ring farming and the wall rez trick.

Mainly because it was quickly removed from the game and very few people ever picked it up. Of those that did, even fewer decided not to destroy them.

P99 will be going to Velious soon and since they are following exactly the patch schedule of Live I wanted to get one of these since I didn't before.

I heard the damage on melee with them was crazy for rangers since they got the double damage bonus of target non running non rooted with melee and then doubled again via trueshot.

As long as you make sure to get a plank ASAP then you shouldn't have a problem. I'm not sure if the other two items ever even got removed from the game, I'm pretty sure they were around a LOT longer than the planks were. If you have an option, go plank -> drake wing -> wire. Allakhazam doesn't list the huge wing as dropping anymore so I assume it was removed at some point, but they still list the wire.

I don't think that the BFG in melee would do much better than the other high end Velious bows from a distance. 20/50 is not that great. It also has no other stats which can be quite a hinderance. If you can kill the WW drake for the wing then you can also kill the Chetari loremaster in DN for a Carved Bone Long Bow with stats slightly under the Primal.

I remember killing the chest and getting the rope long after the planks were removed. The planks were in game for a few months - remember it took a while to explore and flesh out the quests. I have a raid schedule set for first day of EQ and day 2 I plan on doing my solo stuff including BFG getting.

I'm talking about putting it in the primary slot, it becomes 40/50 in primary due to the double damage and 80/50 in primary when trueshot runs. It uses archery so all the damage doubling effects come into play as well - at least thats what others reported.
