For a limited time (3/16/10 - 3/27/10) you can now get the EverQuest 11th Anniversary pack, which includes full EQ and 15 (of 16) expansions as well as a 30 day Subscription (for new accounts) for (just freakin') $2.50 on Steam. This also includes and exclusive in game item: Shroud of Steam (I assume an air elemental, but dunno for sure). |

Can you also use it to upgrade old accounts? Or is it a new subscriber only type thing? |

The add indicated new accounts, but you would have to contact customer service to see if you could apply itto an old account. |

Hmm, I checked on Steam and I don't see anything about this promotion- did you see it through somewhere else, linking to Steam? |

It was from a Sony email announcement. I'll see if I can push the picture here. No luck on the picture from the email. Email has link to Sony here: http://everquest.station.sony.com/eq11t ... .2600.3256 Which on the right has a link to Anniversary Sale (which goes to the link below, which is identical to the one in the email): http://everquest.station.sony.com/eq11t ... .3256#sale EDIT: BAH! Now it just shows Marketplace items (spend RL money to buy in game items, mostly just illusions and things to make weapons look different, nothing significant except maybe the EXP potions). I'll keep looking to see if I can find a link someplace that shows it, or PM me and I will email the Sony email. |

Since I haven't logged on in 8 years, Mr. Ruffles where go where he is most needed. I will probably have to level up a monk. I was always the puller on both my ranger and monk. Either that, or some tankage time as a Pally. |

I still have my druid who's 65 hahahaha... I have 20 levels to go.. but I quad kite... so it shouldn't be too long. Unfortunately I realised that all my AAs are for healing, and my gear is mana regen/extra healing heavy... I'll have to figure something out. Possibly start with charm killing in PON =P You know I hear Fennin Ro is nice this time of year.. *coughhintcough* |

I'm on Tunare and would be happy to help anyone level up a toon. Ranger-boy can do some crazy things these days. As for getting started again (new or returning) I would recommend getting level appropriate Defiant gear from the bazaar (low stuff is rediculously cheap) or get some help farming some. As for where to go, there are things called Hot Zones (may or may not be new to you). These zones receive a bonus experience modifier to encourage people to come to the zones. They are distributed in five level increments, and there is an NPC outside of the Guild Lobby (in the Plane of Knowledge, the archway that is south of and a mirror image of the PoK bazaar entrance). The NPC also gives a quest task for that hot zone. This task like many others inserted throughout the game now usually yields bonus EXP for completion or money or an item (armor or quest piece) or faction or a form of alternate currency (or a mix of some or all of the them). Most of the Time the Guild Lobby is the place to go for buffs now. Buff timers do not count down in the guild lobby or guild hall, but detrimental effects do. You do eat food as normal in the guild lobby/hall, but if you are in trader mode in the bazaar you do not consume food/drink. You do not need to be in a guild to go into the guild lobby. There is a Magus in the guild Lobby that can send you to any of the wayfarer camps. The guild hall does require you to be in a guild, but also includes normal bankers, guild bankers, guild tribute master, a "pool" that increases mana and HP regen (this was installed before the rest timer was in effect) and most importantly the guild portal (gnome merchant by the portal pool/cave sells stones, buy stone from him then hand to him to activat ethe portal, the portal stays active until it is change with naother stone or the guild hall [which is an instance zone] despawn which resets it to none). You now have a gold swirling ball by your name window. This indicates your rest mode the modes are: gold swirl = rest mode = regen HP + mana + endurance at 3.3% per tick. crossed swords = combat mode = you are on the agro list of a mob hour glass = you were on an agro list, but now cleared (died forgot you, whatever) this is the cool down timer which is a grey bar on the same box counting down 30 seconds for normal mobs five minutes for raid mobs, once the hour glass is gone you go into rest mode) drop of poison = some detrimental effect is on you. You cannot go into rest mode while the effect is active, effect can be poison, disease, curse, corruption etc... effects. Malo and tashani lines no longer count a detrimental (they do drop your resists, but do not prevent you from going into rest mode). skull and crossbones = death/rez effects = you cannot go into rest mode until they fade. Potions! The alchemy vendors in POK and lots of bazaar folks sell all sorts of useful potions now, which include haste, mana regen, heal, heal over time, run speed, damage shields etc... they do have a long recast timer so are not effective for heals so much. Mercaneries. You can hire a healer or a tank. There are NPCs all over POK with the different races, the race you buy from is the race you get (hire a gnome from the gnome merchants). They have an upfront inital cost and then a maintenance fee every 15 minutes. If you do not have money they dismiss themselves and you have to buy again (gets costly!). If you dismiss them you have to buy them again. What you want to do is SUSPEND them, and they will "disappear" and can be recalled when you need them. You cannot summon them if you are in combat. I think that is pretty much all the critical stuff. Again, if you want a hand and are on or come to Tunare (Eci), I'll be glad to lend a hand. |

One last thing I forgot. Mobs will now drop you from their agro list if you are too great a distance from them. Snare and run (or just plain keep on running). |

De-leveled my characters (Ranger and Shaman) all the way to level 1 to play the lowbie game again. Super easy and fun to progress these days, allowing for a more relaxed and casual game. In fact, I'm finding it hard to avoid leveling up too fast and missing lowbie content I want to see along the way! So anyway, if anyone's interested in coming to Tunare and grouping, give me a shout. Tariq and Ranaulf are my main toons. |

I'm sorely tempted. I'm enjoying WoW, but EQ has always had that allure.... I'm only down 1 expansion, and I'm in pretty good raid level gear from SoF, so I shouldn't need that much re-gearing, I would hope.... But all my chars are on FV, and I think it's even deader than it used to be. |

Its AA that will hamper you in UF more than your armour. Shield Block, Stability/Agility and a lot of other core lines got extended in SoD and UF, and against those beasts, its needed. I don't think I have seen a mob yet in the UF "starter" zones that hits for less than 5k max per hit, quad attack. |

Yeah, what Ladas said, however, if you are SoF raid geared, you should have no problem jumping into SoD. It has a log of fun quests, progressions and three sets of group armor to go through, so you can spend a lot of time there without having to repeat content. Gorse tries to be around on Tunare 8-10PM eastern, usually. I have a bunch of alts a some bazaar mules. If anyone is interested in contacting me and setting up some play / power leveling times, send me a PM or in game email. P.S. Ranger Dave, I thought you EXP loss at death did not start until you dinged level 10? Can you really delevel to 1 again now? |

Gorse wrote: P.S. Ranger Dave, I thought you EXP loss at death did not start until you dinged level 10? Can you really delevel to 1 again now? Yeah, had to use a work-around though. If you're shrouded, you lose xp as if you're the level of the shroud, and any level losses only get applied once you de-shroud. So, I shrouded at level 50, killed myself a few hundred times, de-shrouded, and voila: level 1. |

OMG!!! exploiter~! you need to be banned. |

Post subject: | |
*chuckle* No doubt. Though somehow I doubt an exploit that causes you to lose more xp than normal is much of a threat to game integrity! |

Since you are under level 10 can you chose to enter the tutorial zone? If so I might have to experiement. I always wanted to take the wizzy on my wife's account there and bind, so I could Teleport to bind an entire group of 85s.... just for giggles. |

Yep, my characters are in the Tutorial zone now actually. Not sure if you could port an 85 in once bound there, but would be funny to see! |
