Since many of us returning from long breaks are not familiar with this mini-game, and how it interacts with (benefits?) EQ/EQ2 gameplay, I thought I'd start a thread. I've barely scratched the surface of the system, and with Nephyrs help was able to redeem a bunch of 'free' card decks last night. I ended up with some kind of dual headed hydra mount and a nimbus on Raz, and got a 2hs ornamentation that includes a DD proc on my alt account (which is really a bummer, since I have no melee characters on that account. I'll contribute with some links. The Legends of Norrath main website http://legendsofnorrath.station.sony.com/ Links on the left to the FAQ, instructions on how to play the game, etc... are on the left. Also, you can look through the loot cards for the different booster decks via the menu on the left. This should help you decide which set you want to choose to redeem your decks from. Anyway, maybe some of you folks who are more familiar with the game, and the cards... how to get them, trade them, etc... could provide some insight... |

The cards from the "Free Packs" you get every month (5 I believe) can't be traded, only cards from packs you purchase. If you are doing the scenarios for the rewards, remember that you can only obtain the reward for winning by using a Standard Deck. Standard Decks are those which only contain cards from the last 6 (or 8? I forget) expansions. As far as I can tell, they release a game themed expansion every 8 months or so. Additionally, when they release an expansion for EQ or EQ2, it seems they add in a single level scenario with a reward tied to that EQ/EQ2 expansion. Monthly or so they also release a single level scenario that returns as a reward for EQ "Unsigned Glyphs". These are my primary reason for bothering with the game. The "glyph", when claimed on your toon, gives you 5 Unsigned Glyphs in EQ, which can be used to "purchase" at no AA cost one the expendable AA glyphs (found under your AA window, or V). I keep Glyph of the Master and Glyph of the Cataclysm available from these, and use them regularly. I forget the exact effects, but Glyph of the Master absorbs 50% of incoming melee damage, up to 50K damage iirc, and Cataclysm is a DPS benefit that increases melee and spell crit damage by .75. While not game breaking, they are pretty handy on raids. I use Master when the **** hits the fan as a follow up to Weaponshield and Armour of Experience, and Cataclysm on extended burns when the rest of my abilities are exhausted. Some of the scenario reward items might be handy to newer places, and I believe one of the scenario sets returns the experience boosting potions. Some of the item cards from the packs themselves are also handy. You can get the experience potions, mounts, contracts for merc, weapon/shield augs, etc. Periodically they will also do tournament packs, which include 3 packs of the current expansion (cards inside are tradable), a special tournament card for the LON game, and usually some item card for EQ/EQ2. I don't usually buy those, but at one point the loot card in 3 consecutive tournament packs was a Slash, Pierce and Blunt familiar. Each familiar adds a small amount of damage to the specific type of weapon, and a small amount of damage to a specific type of nuke (slash = fire, blunt = cold, dont recall pierce). I bought one of each to get the familiars, since in my opinion, a little extra damage is better than most of the other familiars you can get in game, or from LON. |

Also, if you work through the various expansion scenarios... some of the individual fights are insanely hard and require as much luck on the cards you start with as your choices in cards. I would also recommend creating your own custom avatar... I almost always use a custom Sarnak with the special ability to heal 1 point of damage on the first win with the avatar each round. For some of the scenarios, its best way to help mitigate the overwhelming damage the AI avatars can do. |

So, I played a few tutorial games yesterday, and can honestly say that as far as game-play goes.. blegh.. not my cup of tea.. However, I've also been trading loot cards, and find this aspect to be pretty fun actually. I got a 2nd tradeable mount card on Raz and ended up trading it for a couple of other lesser value loot cards. One of which is the 2hand pierce (lance) mold/aug (Combine Lance Ornament) that has the DD proc on it. Looks spiffy and adds nice damage! =) |

It crashes EQ for me if I try to play while inside EQ still. However, if you start it outside of EQ with its own exe, it works fine. There should be an LoN folder under your Sony install folder. |

You can download an external client from the legendsofnorrath.com site as well. |

I find that if I start EQ fresh, and open LoN immediately, it works ok. If EQ's been open/I've been playing for a while, it crashes almost every time. |
