Post subject: | EQ1 Switching to Launchpad 3 |
http://eqplayers.station.sony.com/news_ ... m?id=52094 Quote: EverQuest Switching to LaunchPad 3 On December 1, 2010, EverQuest will be switching over to the LaunchPad 3 version of the download client. The older versions will no longer work to download and patch EverQuest. In order to help with this transition, please share your feedback about any issues that you currently experience with LaunchPad 3. LaunchPad 3 can be accessed through this link! Note: LaunchPad 3 is not the same as Station Launcher. I think I linked this in the helpful resources thread a while back, but here is the link to the launcher itself. http://launch.soe.com/everquest/ |

Just remember that you don't need to do anything unless you want to help them test it. The launchpad (if you use it) will automatically switch. |

hrm, really? that statement about "The older versions will no longer work to download and patch EverQuest" seems pretty definitive to me. Am I missing something? |

Sorry, I meant to say that the launcher will automatically swap over. If you use the old patcher from inside the EQ directory, you will need to change. If you use the Station Launcher (the new default), you won't need to do anything, and it will update automatically. |

Ahh, I see.. I stopped using the station launcher when I started multi-boxing. trying to manage multiple installs using the station launcher was a PITA. |

You might want to swap back. It's much easier to manage accounts using the Station Launcher than the new Launchpad. The new Launchpad remembers the last account logged on, no matter what directory it's launched from- makes it quite confusing to log on the correct account from the correct directory. The Launcher will automatically sync an account with a particular directory, so when you log on Account A, it loads from directory A, and when you log on Account B, it loads from directory B. |

All I know is that every time I tried to change the location of the install folder for a particular account, it deleted all of the files in the previous location. Probably some stupid mistake I was making. I switched to using a shortcut to the launchpad executable out of each install folder. The fact that it remembers the last username isn't a big deal, as long as I don't select the autologin feature. |

All my directories were from before the launchpad existed, so I can't comment on it and making new directories. What I did was this: I copied the current directory to the place I wanted it, then opened the launchpad and pointed it to that directory. Worked great for all three directories/three accounts, and it always launched the proper directory when I logged in to that account. |
