(Yet Another Returning Player) Thought I'd start a new thread rather than sully Rolyen's. This will be where I ask random returning-noob questions, if I can't easily find the answers elsewhere. There are a few good pages out there, but I always seem to have an odd angle or find something unclear. My burning question today is - are all races of mercs the same in terms of stats? I know that by the endgame a Gnome warrior and Ogre warrior can be pretty equivalent, but for some reason I was thinking that for the level of mercs I'm getting in my 30s, an Ogre warrior would be better (more hitpoints, slam, etc.). But reading up on it, I'm not so sure. If they're the same, I'll go get a Dwarf and be done with it. Thanks! |

No stat difference between Merc races. |

OK, cool, thanks. And, this thing with the maps ... They just decided to stop putting them out, so I have to get a better set from Mapfiend? That's kind of funny. I just started noticing that there are author names on certain maps. |

They never put out maps for anything but PoK and the starting cities. The cartography system was to allow people to make and share maps, not to put maps in the game directly. |

Huh. I guess I'm still stuck on how SoD does it. Oh, oh, now I remember - I used to go get the EQAtlas maps and put them in. Sheesh, isn't that a blast from the past. I finally figured out how to use augments today. I had tried a birdbath, and spaced out on what the message said. Finally clicked on that little box with an aug on my pointer. I've been getting a bunch of Defiant plate (and cloth, right, but only one piece of chain for my Rogue), so I'm going to do a free account and hand it off to that character, then give it over to my Sk on the same server. Might be interesting. I'm also thinking of transferring off of Zek. I have a strong feeling I'm never going to get into that mode of play again. One of my problems is that I can't decide which character to do my veteran rewards on ... |

So, interfaces .... I used to use one called Tablets, but it will not load (I went to eqinterface.com and got the latest one, from March). So many of the old interfaces don't seem to be regularly updated, and of the ones that are, I really don't like many of them. Are customized interfaces no longer an "in" thing to do? |

And, here's a question: If I invis myself, can other players still see my merc and pet, if they don't have see invis and can't see me? |

That's a good question. I got so used to going everywhere with see invis on all the time that I never noticed. You might have to experiment to find out. |

Pretty sure they can still see your merc and pet, yes. Easy way to tell- invis yourself, take off a see-invis item, and look at what you can see. |

Heh, I have no see invis items. I do have Deadeye, however. But I've also noticed that they changed how it works - even without Deadeye, I can see myself, unlike how it used to be. Same with my Rogue - when he's hiding and sneaking, I can still see him if I zoom out to 3rd person view, unlike in the old days. I'd often lose track of myself, since my Rogue has no way of seeing through invis. What's funny is that I can sneak or invis into places full of KOS mobs with my merc and pet following me. I'm assuming they're still visible to the mobs, but they never aggro on them. |

Mercs and pets don't grab agro unless you get agro. As far as I can tell, mercs and pets can't be invised either. I constantly cast shared camo out of habit and always get the red message "this pet/merc cannot be invised". |

Veteran rewards can be awarded to all characters on one account, so no need to decide which should get them. It might be different for F2P/silver accounts. I'm not sure what all of the restrictions are on those types of accounts. |

I constantly cast shared camo out of habit and always get the red message "this pet/merc cannot be invised". Yeah, about aggro. I think my merc got me killed this morning, but I can't quite figure out why. I was in Goru'Kar Mesa, poking around, and heard the sounds of combat up where the Windwillow treants and dryads are. Seems there was a Kromrek up there, and all the Dryads were fighting it. So, I figure I'm not gonna get aggro, I'll do some spell casting for kicks and skill ups. I do Heat Blood a couple of times, etc. Then I targeted one of the dryads to make sure I was still indifferent, which I was, and started talking to Dorina for quests. All of a sudden, a Dryad Tender starts casting on me, as did a bunch of other Dryads. The only thing I can see is that my merc threw something at whatever I had targeted at the moment, even though I wasn't attacking the Dryad, or Dorina. I set his role as "Second Assist," I think, so maybe that was it. Guess I have to set him to passive if I talk to people? (He's a DPS guy.) Either that, or they don't like skellie pets? When I log on, I get this message: "Please remember that each reward can only be claimed by a single character on a single server on this account." I'm leaning toward my SK, anyway. I decided that for all the fun of seeing how big of a backstab you can do, Rogue isn't really all that interesting to play. My SK is a gas, though (my ranger is on Zek, don't feel like going over there anymore, or paying for a transfer). |

Woah, when did they change Vet Rewards? I thought it was still 1 char per year. |

This is the message I get every time I log on one of my alts... "You can claim a veteran reward on this character. Type /veteranreward to mark this character veteran reward enabled. Once a character is flagged for veteran rewards they will get all veteran rewards this account is flagged for, and they will automatically get new veteran rewards as this account qualifies for them." I also get this message... "Your account has one or more rewards waiting to be claimed. You may use the Claim Window to view and claim your rewards. Please remember that each reward can only be claimed by a single character on a single server on this account." You might be confusing the messages. I have four accounts with a main character on each that I box and a multitude of alts used mostly for holding TS materials, but I do have a rogue on the same account as Jasmy that has all of the veteran rewards Jasmy has. I've been wanting to move the rogue to a new account, but don't want to lose her vet rewards. I've also been playing since December, 1999...that might have something to do with it. ![]() |

It's not a single char, but it's not infinite chars either. And you don't get rewards back by deleting the toon. If you have 1 year, you get 1 award. 10 years, 10 awards. |

Yeah, I'm investigating this on the Station boards, and this seems to be the case. So, I have 8 years on that account, meaning I can get 8 rewards, distributed among my characters? Still confused! I think I'll pick a reward for my SK and see if my Rogue can still get something (not the same one, obviously). |
