Just got back from the Seattle Cantina Tour.

This video was the only file on the thumbdrive.

Hard to tell exactly what's going on, but it looks like multi-player space PvP (that is the most common working theory so far)

If they can make it like what goes down in Battlefront...that would be awesome.

Another theory going around is that they new space missions will be essentially like group flashpoints or heroic missinon, where players can queue in one of three classes of ships and battle as a group against either PvE or PvP encounters.

Still lots of unknowns...

When I first heard about Star Wars in MMO form (around late 90s or 2000)...

I dreamed a dream where I would fly
In an X-Wing or Corellian freighter
Where I could escort players against incoming TIEs
Be a merc for hire against all Republic haters

But I was young and quite naive
About a world filled with spacefarers
Simulation, I wanted to believe
No arcade-y controls, no computer errors

But SWG was doomed to die
And TOR space is a joke on rails
'Where are all the traders and merchants?' I cry
The realities compared, simply pales

I would love cargo ship captains
Capital Ships with turrets manned by players
Trade routes needing escort to make it happen
A space sim so complex, it has many layers

And still I dream it will come to be
Vids and theories like this get me excited
I smile over the possibility
XvsT controls would make me delighted

But apparently I'm the minority
Fast Food generation wants it easy
No matter what info will be gleamed
It's already dead... the dream I dreamed.

I saw the words Wing Commander in the title and never ventured inside. I couldn't get into those games, what with the cat people and cartoony graphics (comparitively). Even with Mark Hamill lending talent to it.

Star Wars was the only space sim/universe I cared about. What's the elevator pitch to this game, to a hardened Star Wars XvT fan who is a tough sell on other franchises?

Immersive first person in-cockpit space sim with joystick-quality player-skill driven twitch gameplay in an MMO persistant world with a variety of roles and gameplay goals supported.

And multiplayer, multi-crewed freighters and cap ships along with single-seat ships.

Built from the ground up to be a cutting edge PC game with massive poly and texture budgets for game assets, which are, by the way, concepted and designed by artists who are used to working in film on projects like Avatar and the Star Trek reboot.

Is there mention of a trader class/ship similar to PotBS where it's a extreme risk/reward endeavour? To the point where maybe it's a good idea to hire other players to protect your cargo? Even more wishful hopes and dreams, can said trader have strong chances to hide his cargo amidst his ship and that only the most skilled pirates can find the majority of the haul?

What about Star Destroyer-sized capital ships and the ability to be one of the gunners on it?

I'll direct you here so as not to derail this lovely SWTOR thread further.
