Some people have a burning desire to try and make themselves feel like they stick-out amongst the anonymous, faceless, internet drones of which they are a part of. It could be a generational thing, since kids today have had the internet and online gaming as a part of their entire life. I don't know.

You're a unique snowflake. Just like everybody else. Live with it, kid.

A new round of invites went out today. The only thing I know about this batch of invites is that it is a smaller number than the previous two weekend tests. I don't know if these are general beta invites that will last until beta is over or if it is just for the weekend. For some reason, I got invited. Again. But then again, I've been invited to the past two weekend tests as well even though I was a long term tester before the weekend tests started.

I got the email. But it didn't contain any kind of link to confirm it, like the last one.

And now I'm in a bit of a quandry. Do I continue playing the Sith Warrior, the class I know will be my main at launch and one I've been having extreme fun with? Or do I play something else that might be almost as fun, saving the surprises of the Warrior class for the retail version of the game?

Sigh. As much as I will hate to do it, I probably should shelve my warrior.

By the way, to those of you that were in the beta last weekend, keep your client installed because you are going to be able to patch to live with it. I don't recall if this was discussed already.

I was going to ask about that. Eventually.

How does that work with pre-orders and associated items?

Awesome. I was wondering if they would be able to do something like this. Good to know.

If their ability to keep a forum up and running without crashing is any indication of how they're going to run their game....

I have serious concerns for this game.

Does no one (who makes comments like this about this game) remember November of 2004 when World of Warcraft first launched? It sure seems like they don't.

Let me refresh everyone's memories as my recollection of it is still crystal clear:

WoW was far, FAR from a smooth launch. Queue times to get into the servers were horrendous. The servers themselves were so overtaxed that when you went to loot an item, your character was locked in the bent-over fetal position and stayed that way for 5+ minutes. After 5 minutes, you MIGHT get the item you were attempting loot 5 minutes ago. Or, more likely, you'd get a "I can't loot that" message. This was all on a good day.

On a regular, bad day, the entire server would crash every couple of hours (or less). Some servers weathered the storm better than others, but the majority of them were going down daily like a working girl just off the Vegas strip. Like everyone else, when my server crashed I'd hop into another server that miraculously stayed up while I waited for my sever to come back. I'd also notice many, many other players in general chat having done the same thing from servers other than mine. So I personally created a guild called "Our Servers Crashed" and gave all new members guild invite privileges. My thought was that it would quickly become a very large guild (and active only for brief periods). I was right. It grew extremely fast as my crashed brothers found the name hilarious and wanted solidarity like the rest of us. Unfortunately the server that the guild was on was an RP server and some idiot decided to complain about the name. Blizzard forcibly changed the guild name to "Guild of the Lion" and then the guild dwindled and died. Thank you, anonymous Alliance jerkhole from Argent Dawn.

The forums were just as bad as the servers. When the servers crashed, the forums would be right behind it.

This went on for at least 4 weeks after launch.

Having been in the beta for WoW and also Star Wars, I am far more optimistic about SWTOR.

They take the forums down as part of the server maintenance(which today is extended maintenance). Unless something has happened that I don't know about.

I haven't been able to get to the swtor site all morning. It doesn't give me a maintenance splash screen; it just times out. I can ping the IP address though.

Well, looks like I don't need to make the decision about not playing my Sith Warrior so I can save the story for when the game launches... or if I should continue my smuggler or not. Bioware made the decision for me. The server I created the toons on is gone. Not sure I really feel like leveling up yet another toon from scratch just now.

I don't get that. Forums should be separate from game servers. That way people can talk about the game when the servers are down. ;)

But its more than that. Server errors, queues to get into a thread, authentication errors... hell sometimes the forum doesn't know if I'm logged in or not.

I'm sad. I want more TOR, and I am not in this weekend's beta.

Yup. I consider this a good sign for my enjoyment of the game.

Question: What is the point of item modification stations? I'm not sure I understand, as you can fully modify an item in the field by yourself.

My assumption is they're basically obsoleted game concepts.

I was assuming that the "modify in the field" mechanic was introduced to encourage people to actually play with the mods and that the stations will be required at launch. Could be wrong, though.

A few months back, you did need to be at a station to make mods. At this point I don't know if they provide any functionality for anything else, since you can mod on the go.

I just got an email saying testing is closed and I should uninstall my client. Should I uninstall or should I keep the client for the early access?
