Not much difference....until... I put together my new system this morning. Now getting 100+ FPS (compared to 40 on old system). Now with highest setting it certainly looks better (shadows on, distance view, character detail, etc) but for what you originally meant, not much at all changed from last build. I'm all set for launch! |

Boom! Welcome to the 100 fps club. =) Grats on the new computer. Ranelagh, what are your complaints about the graphics you've experienced? Is it a performance issue, or a quality issue? |

I haven't fully tweaked the graphics to see what I could run. I was going between 35 and 50 odd last week at 1920x1080 with stuff set to medium. With a laptop I am not sure I have a way to increase performance. I'd read a few posts on the forums saying that the new build is smoother, possibly due to the debugger being turned off. I wondered if there had been more detail added too. |

My guess is the only quality enhancement we'll see is the disabled Anti-Aliasing re-enabled. People on the forums talk about a mythical "Ultra" texture level, but I can't see any point in holding them back during the beta if they existed. Laptops often just plain have a hard time pushing 1080p resolutions with 3D graphics. High resolutions demand a lot of video memory, and laptops just rarely have it available. |

Thanks Kaffis! I was very proud that I basically did it myself... Had a friend confirm items I bought on Black Friday from NewEgg. He did also come over to oversee, which was mainly to make sure I didn't do something horrible. Everything went smoothly. Well not 100% accurate... I did forget to connect the front panel fan's power cord. Nothing major. Took me under 3 hours from start to being online and downloading. Some people have dreams to win a Nobel prize or climb Mt. Everest. Me? I just wanted to build my own system. Oh, and I never realized how much difference a case makes... got a Corsair 600T... so much room which made maneuvering very easy. |

Yeah, good, comfortable cases are so underrated, especially by people who don't build, but expect you to repair. On my brother's last computer, I flat-out declared at one point that I wouldn't do any more work on it that required cracking the case unless it was to move the guts to a new case in the process. |
