I didn't realize that the order in which pre-order codes are redeemed would dictate just how early you get to start Just did my pre-order about 5 minutes ago and am now anxiously awaiting news of just how much (or little) advance time I'm going to have. |

I think you're out of luck, Shel. When they announced they were extending the early access program to the 13th, one of the dev posts/tweets pretty much confirmed that the purpose of the staggered access is to spread load on the character creation servers and early content as evenly as possible. Given that they extended the program to 7 days instead of 5, I think that probably suggests they intend to use all 7 days. So the most recent seventh of pre-order redemptions is probably getting a day. |

I ordered and input my code on the site back in July the day the CE was announced, and still haven't been told when I get into early access. Am I supposed to have an email about this? I can't find anything on the web site and definitely haven't received an email yet. |

The official word on early access notifications is that you'll be emailed immediately upon your access opening up. The claim by their PR guy is that they're going with this system to avoid any screw-ups where they "promise" you will have access at time X, but then servers explode and you took time off or whatever and can't get at it. My cynical reading of that reasoning is that it's doublespeak for "we'd rather not have people able to schedule time off so they put in 18 hour play sessions daily for the entirety of Early Access." In any event, I suspect July pre-orders will have access tomorrow, or, at worst, Wednesday. So you'll get your email in the next 48 hours or whatever. |

Not sure if I like this approach. It's better than opening the floodgates and finding a 10 hour + queue on the server your guild is on certainly, but it has drawbacks too. |

Yeah, queues come later. I give it a few days Right now, they're not letting enough people in to put any of the servers in queue. This way, we get the worst of both worlds |

Well, they announced the staggered launch when they announced pre-orders, so it's not like you can't say you weren't warned. |

True, and its not really that big a deal to me. But I saw the forums... they're on fire already. |

I do like the staggered approach. It gives them good control to spread people out and minimize queues. At least in theory. Not knowing when you'll start is annoying though. Not sure what they can do about it unfortunately. |
