To prevent a glut of whining? It's what I'd do. |

The game client says to check the forums for details. Oh, the forums are down. The Facebook link redirects to the forum announcement. Oh, the forums are down. I shudder to think what the Twitter post does. |

Why do they have to take down the entire swtor.com site? Even the stuff that is static data is inaccessible. Assuming that the page is dynamically generated, one would hope that they aren't serving their web frontend from the same database server that holds all the account, or worse the payment, information. |

FarSky wrote: To prevent a glut of whining? It's what I'd do. Well yeah, that may be a reason, but I don't think its why. Along with the whining, informational posts and whatnot on a forum are probably the best way to inform people of what's going on. Redirecting to a static page of "Hey, SWTOR.com is down" just pisses people off. We go to a site for information and when its down, we can't get that. |
