I wonder how many people are in SW:TOR not because they want an MMO but because it's KOTOR III to them.

How many people are going to play through the storyline for 1 or more character classes and then cancel their subscriptions because they've gotten out of it what they wanted? What will server population look like a few months from now?

Inquiring minds want to know.

That's the $60,000 question.

I'm wondering what the end game will hold, and what BW's schedule for content updates is. If its anything like WoW... it won't be a good thing. If its more like Rift.. it'll be worth it.

I think I'll give them about 60 days to thrill me. That should be enough time to max a couple of characters and see what the end holds. If its nothing but endless grinding on FPs and PvP... I'm out. If there's entertaining raids, and stuff like that... we'll see.

It's KotOR III to me. They haven't shown me any compelling reason to make it an MMO for me yet. That said, the notion of multiple class stories and two sets of universal missions means that it's at least 4 or so KotOR III's, so I can justify paying a few months even if that's all it is to me.

The multiplayer content is nice, I enjoy the flashpoints. I'd have rather have had that as a peer-hosted multiplayer solution, though, akin to what they're making rumblings about for ME3.

We'll see if that changes. Perhaps they'll do something with PvP that will suck me in. Perhaps they'll surprise me with the rate they crank out group content with interesting story, and the solution for "endgame content" won't be "put operations on farm mode and log in to repeat dailies that feel like a chore of a grind."

I'm still betting that subs will dwindle in a year or less and they will convert to some kind of micro transaction model.

That's certainly my goal at this point, unless repeating the non-class content gets too boring.

Me, on my third run through of pre-20 non class stuff.

he...you... 1... we.. ur... 1... ne... ki...1... done.

The spacebar is my friend on most of this stuff. Class quests, I'll listen through though.

To be fair, it sounds like I'm really down on the game. And yes, it does have some rather serious and glaring flaws.

However...

It *is* entertaining. I am having fun with it, and there are a few features that I do like. I dunno if it will have long term success, that rather depends on BW and how committed they are to releasing ongoing content and whatnot, but for now, I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt.

I was really enjoying it, but my class quest bugged out at tatooine and it's been almost a week with zero customer support help. I've gotten a couple "we've forwarded on your message to someone who can help", but zero other than that.

I'm now 36. My class quest is past gray. I still only have one companion and my ship droid because I can't get any of the others without being able to move on in my class quest. I've submitted tickets, reset the quest and repair installed my game multiple times each.

At this point, along with all the other minor annoyances (zero ui tweakability, the annoying ah interface, and a bunch of other non-important but annoying bugs) I won't be playing past my free month.

I really liked the game while it was working great, but that only lasted through the first couple zones really. Right now the only part I constantly enjoy is the space combat.

*edit - I'm reinstalling the game tonight, crossing my fingers that that will help, but not very hopeful.

Jocificus - which class, and what's the problem?

Sith Inquisitor. When you fly into tatooine and get the class quest dialog from the holoterminal, it doesn't finish properly, and never updates the quest.

The dialog finishes, the screen goes blank for a second, then back into a close up of my character, like during a normal conversation. Then it sits there, nothing happens. I eventually have to esc out of the conversation.

It's a fairly common issue for the tatooine inquisitor class quest, as leveling through that zone you see people asking why their quest didn't finish all the time. Most seem to be able to get it to work just by doing it over a few times after resetting the quest, and eventually it works. This hasn't helped me at all.

It's also an issue for another class quest; I want to say imperial agents have the problem as well sometimes?

That may not even be the most annoying bug I have. The one that's the biggest pain is about 25% of the time when I zone and a loading screen comes up, it hangs at 50%, and I have to alt-f4 out of the game and load it back up. It seems most frequent when attempting to board my ship, but that may just be because that's the loading screen I see the most often.

*that second one is also a well known issue, there's a 50+ page thread on the forums about it. It apparently will continue to get worse until the character is unplayable, as I won't be able to log in at all. That will be fun.

My biggest problem with the game...

I am chewing up the class quest far faster than I should be. I find myself running into impossible walls, two sometimes three times, before I give up and do other quest. Other quest that don't matter to my class quest. Also...why in the hell can't I find a good chest slot item? I have had the same 'robe' for the last 7 levels. I am always finding improvments in the other slots both as mob drops or merchant items. Yet...nothing for my large manly chest.

I have had no tech problems other than what appears to be lasers that appear out of no where.

It is honestly the most fun I have had with any game in a long freaking time.

This, except for the pvp stuff. (PVP never sucks me in.)

Having a lot of fun with it. I feel like it's more Mass Effect than KotoR, but I guess they are both similar anyway. I'm playing a Trooper so that has something to do with it also.

We will see what end game brings. I'm level 40 now and still having a lot of fun. If Ilum and other end game content is not fun I'll likely still play through again as some sort of Jedi.

Getting stuck at 50% loading bug seems to be fixed so far, so that's nice.

Class quest still broken though. I wrapped up Taris (the parts I could do at least) and am moving on to another character. My third reroll and the game hasn't even been out for a month. Awesome.

Having fun. Lots of.

Could think of a few things that would make it better, but that's people and environment, not gameplay.

Yeah. I am having so much fun levelling, I'm afraid to hit that cap.
