We can probably kill this subforum. This game won't make it another 6 months.

You know that it's going free to play in a few weeks, right?

It's F2P model won't generate interest and won't bring back already paid players, since prior-paid requires a subscription to play at all. Server populations are, barring your server, lower than pre-consolidation levels on the rest of the Destination servers.

And F2P players aren't going to pay $20 for a "Burn the Sky" type DLC that subscribers get for free.

In fact, just for basic access to the game, F2P is already more expensive than buying the game for $14.99. It takes nearly $60 to unlock the non-PvP, non-FP, non-WZ content for an F2P/microtransaction player.

The model's bad. The pricing is horrible. The advertising is useless. I like the game, but there's no point to keep a subforum for a game EA will likely announce the shutdown of in December.

Ultima Online has more subs than TOR.

Re: Killing the subforum, it seems an odd thing to do, even if the game isn't popular. We've maintained the EQ and WoW subforum for a long time, even with no one posting in them for months at a time. They aren't hurting anyting, and they are good resources for people still playing, or people who might decide to give it a go when it goes F2P.

Re: The game, they just invested a bunch of time/effort/money to deploy their 'mega servers' and consolidated users.

I have several level 50's on The Harbinger. I haven't been playing much lately, but on Wed my guild had a record number of people online (we don't actively recruit and are mostly people who know each other in R/L).

There have been several instances of most of the planets I've been on during prime time, and doing dailies in Black Hole is nigh on impossible for the "too many people, too few mobs/nodes" problem.

I agree with you (in general) about their Free to Play model. It doesn't seem to make a lot of sense in the current context. This leaves me with two possibilities. 1) They have plans to add more content to the game to generate revenue, or 2) they are complete idiots.

Now that I think about it, those things are not mutually exclusive. I suppose both could be true.

Anyway, I'll bet you a nice custom Telecaster that they don't announce that they are shutting down the game in December (at least not this December). It just doesn't seem like something they would do during the Holidays...

Ummm, why would you pay to have something heal you out of combat. The out of combat regen is pretty fast.

Yea, every time I talk to a cantina vendor, and they are selling OOC regen potions, I ask myself the same thing...

Cabonite chamber might be pretty fun. I wonder if they'll have a summonable Kolto Tank?...

I'd like to see more customizable options for the interior of your ship(s).
