Ok since I can't run the hangar module on my current video card (Raden 4300 series) I'm looking to upgrade so I can at least run that. I've settled on a GTX 660 TI I think though I only have a PCIE 2.0 I want something that I could also use in my next system and the price isn't that bad. I was just wondering exactly how throttled back this card would be in a 2.0 slot?

PCIE 2 vs 3 is a matter of bandwidth, primarily. Unless we're talking about using the GPU for stuff like CUDA applications, the bandwidth is mostly under utilized in 3 anyways buy normal graphics loads. You simply don't swap that much data in GPU memory when the bulk of the GPU's RAM is being used as a frame buffer and texture storage, particularly if you get a card with a healthy amount of VRAM. Finding a 660Ti with 2GB of RAM shouldn't be hard, and I'd say you'll be fine.

Cool, a little more conversation and digging and it seems a Radeon HD 7870 is 100 cheaper and beats the 660 Ti in a lot of categories.

I think I'll be in my hanger soon, well in my hanger that I can see and hear instead of just listening to me walk around in the darkness.

FWIW, I just picked up a 7870 (upgrade from a 4870) and I am quite pleased.

How does the hanger module run with it?

Runs fine and doesn't stress it at all (fan doesn't kick into high gear). Seems to start a bit slowly, but that is likely the fault if the rest of my system...which is 4 years old.

The hangar module loads slowly for me, too. I think it's just a lot of data to pull off the hard drive.
