Some further clarification on player clothing from one of the devs:

Quote:

Hello Nate!

My question has to do with the player avatar's clothing. I saw in one episode of Wingman's Hanger a doodle on the whiteboard showing different zones on the avatar that suggested to me there may be clothing objects in the game rather than only a series outfits.

Will the game allow us to collect pieces of clothing/gear.accessories? Will we have a "wardrobe" of items that we can mix and match or will be dealing only with "finished" outfits.

I'm hoping of course for the versatility of the former.

Mix and match is the plan. :)

Extra note : I was craving a space fix, went to finally pick up Galaxy on Fire 2 HD, and it's free right now (I'm assuming due to the apple store 5 yr anniversary). So if you were waiting to jump on that, snag it (It's 20 bucks on steam).

I can't second this sentiment enough. Played the HELL out of this game on my iPad.

For free is fantastic, but be sure to pick up the add-ons when the initial campaign is done. Well worth the price.

Saw this on the RSI forum and it needs to be admitted here.

You have no one to blame but yourself. ;) However you have a sexy sexy constellation to show for it (not that I don't find the Aurora pretty darn sexy herself)

So I'm thinking you have this Kaffis, anything you can tell us normal peasants? :)

What is the Concierge status and what does it provide?

If your purchases on the account equal to $1,000 or more you will have your own personal Concierge. Keep in mind that this is for total purchases on the account. Ships or packages gifted to the account will not count towards the Concierge total. You will be part of a select group where your questions, requests and needs will be answered by a personal Concierge staff member. You will receive a heads up and exclusive access to events as well as inside info from the development team. A 1-on-1 service to fulfill your pledges and to take all of your requests.

I've used it twice. Once to expedite the application of overpledge on my Kickstarter-centric account to an M50, the other time to ask a procedural question about the citizen cards.

It's not really that exciting -- I had a pledge mix-up mid Kickstarter campaign before I had racked up enough pledges to qualify, and the normal CS was just as awesomely helpful. The Concierge is just a shorter queue, if you will. Now that they have more staff, concierge *might* have a dedicated CS rep, but I'm not sure -- the 3 times I've dealt with CS total, I've seen replies from a mix of Chelsea and Sandi.

I think I might have to prevail upon them again soon -- I had a mixup with one of my Citizen Cards (I had requested a downgrade, and got the full tier instead -- I didn't want two Admiral cards) that I should get the fix put in motion for now that the new site is up, and I'm not sure which account I want my Idris on, and I think I've heard that you can't gift Idrises anymore without CS involvement to try to cut down on the scalping that's soured a lot of people.

At least, I don't *think* it equates to an insider line for l33t seekrit infoz. ;) Maybe I should try that sometime...

Oh. I have yet to get anything like that from a Concierge email. :) If I get awesome info, I'll be sure to share it with you guys unless they ask me not to.

If you guys don't make a habit of it, watch today's Wingman's Hangar. It's worth it for the Mo-Cap footage alone. The rig Chris Olivia is shown holding blew my mind. Showing a rendered character following the mo-cap in real time, we truly live in future-time.

The Mo-Cap is near the beginning, right after Wingman does his weight update. Big forum feedback section with Chris Roberts for the bulk of the show this week.

Of particular note for me this week from Forum Feedback is at 25:42, which is the clearest answer to "Are there plans to grant other players permission to fly ships in your own hangar?" that I've seen yet.

I have a feeling some folks'll be hitting me up to take some joy rides... ;)

One other thing I thought was really cool from Wingman's hangar -

They're trying to add a feature where you hail another ship, you speak into your webcam, and through motion capture/control your avatar simulates your movements with your voice. That is going to be both awesome for those of us playing together, and hilarious when some 10 yr olds voice comes out of his grizzled pirate griefer avatar and calls me a racial slur.

Yeah, I was pretty excited when Sony Online introduced that tech to EQ2 (even though I don't play that anymore), so I'm really jazzed that Star Citizen's looking to adopt something similar.

This doesn't interest me at all for the reasons DarkRoland pointed out. Having a kid come out of a burly man avatar, or worse a burly man coming out of a woman avatar will break immersion.

Some screenshots that snuck by in Forrest Stephan's Ask a Dev thread.. just to lighten your hump day...

Spoiler:

Spoilered for size.

So those are screenshots he took in-engine a while back that haven't been "release[d] in there [sic] unaltered form." Looks like these are probably shots that got cropped down for use in the Aurora (and 300i?) brochure(s).

At least, the top one's an Aurora, but the second two show a 300-series on the instrumentation, and I don't remember whether the Aurora uses a yoke, but the 300's do. I can't tell if that's a 300i cockpit design, though -- I need the hangar module so I can start recognizing ships' interiors on sight! Edit: Yep, the second and third are a 300i, I just noticed the label on the seat in the second shot.

The first one is used in the Aurora brochure I think. It looks familiar anyway.

Yeah, I just dug it up earlier tonight. I had thought it was cropped down in response to what Forrest said about not having released the unmodified version of that shot.. but it looks like they just tweaked the lens flare a smidge.

I actually have the Aurora cockpit on my desktop. The 300i looks crowded by comparison. Still pretty though.

Ooh. Zuur has updated his map to an Interactive Version which allows for zooming, panning, and hovering over planets for a summary of the information released about them...
