The Gladius is shaping up as something of a cross between the classic WC Hornet and the Ferret from.. IV, I think. The proportions around the nose definitely make me think Hornet, while the forward swept wings and shape of the canards reminds me of the Ferret.

WingMan's Hangar today announced that there will only be 3 more episodes of WMH... Instead, they'll be replacing the Wednesday slot with a community-centric show (probably a pass, for me), and moving the Inside CIG segments to Fridays to replace The Next Great Starship.

So the last episode will be the 4th.

Erik hinted that they weren't out of big stuff to show us before they're through, though, so that might be a subtle (and non-binding) suggestion that they'll be able to drop the release of the DFM as a last hurrah in these last 3 episodes...

Oh, right. And the reason I was posting in here in the first place (lol)...

Be sure to check out yesterday's Comm-Link for awesome concept art and DFM screenshots that went into this month's cover story in some German gaming magazine. They're gorgeous, and awesome.

M50 WIP in Jump Point this month. It looks pretty nice. A few things they changed that I'm not a superfan of, but good work and lots of detail inbound. It wouldn't surprise me if it's approaching hangar-ready.

Also a big article about cap ship stations that I've only had time to skim because I have to get up godawful early tomorrow for a road trip.

I'll report back in more detail Sunday or Monday if you guys don't want to chase down the bootleg links. :P

And the Freelancer variants are up. I'm not home, so I haven't watched, yet.

Looks like they're temporarily putting the TNGS finalists in our hangars so we can see them close up for ourselves before the vote...

The deluxe hangar looks way better "in person" than in screenshots and videos.

It vastly improved with the update to PBR, too. That might be part of what you're seeing.

I upgraded to the DUR. Can't tell where the cargo capacity was lost. I expect that fuel tanks will eventually show up in the cargo bay.

#InternetSpaceshipProblems

My two accounts each have a Freelancer, but I'm torn between the variants to get for them.

One account has tons of hauling options, with a Retaliator, a Banu, and a Caterpillar all on that one. (heh. I totally didn't see the massive capacity upgrades coming on all three of those ships, lol) So a MAX for the other one seems like a good idea, since I probably won't want to dedicate the Constellation on that one to hauling.

But then, do I do a MIS or a DUR on the other one? I'm not sure... Gotta choose which I think will have less role overlap with the Retaliator and the 315p, respectively, I guess. Lol.

Those are all one-percenter problems in the Star Citizen universe, Kaffis.

Some of us only have a lowly Aurora ... with a jump engine. Although, I may be convinced to upgrade to a DUR.

There are allegations that I cheered out loud at the end when the hangar bay door's clamp unfastened in a gorgeously chunky, weighty animation. As always, it is my policy to decline to comment on rumors.

I want all my stuff to look like that. All of it. That slightly rusty, super-utilitarian, "I've got better **** to do than polish this place to a spit-shine" aesthetic is everything I want in a space setting.

I'm not saying that if that's the "pirate aesthetic" I'm going to run off and rethink my characters' alignments...

Sorry, what?

Oh, yeah.

It's not a "pirate aesthetic" It's just the way things look in "real space" where real people do real work.

Indeed. That's my opinion, too. I don't know if that's the philosophy of the guys in charge of at direction, though. As I said, I hope so.

I don't foresee them limiting the hangar to just pirates

Woo!

New high score: Wave 14, I got 117k points. In a Hornet. It was the first time I played around with weapon configuration, too. For what it's worth, the K&W 117 repeaters barely tickle anything. They do damage, so they're not entirely broken, but it seemed to take a good 5-10 seconds of sustained hits to penetrate Scythe shields. I had removed my turret (to save power, maybe?) and was trying them out in the fixed Class 1's in the Hornet's nose. The Class 1 lead reticle is currently terrible and utterly imprecise. Not too unexpected, considering they basically outright said that configuration modification isn't explicitly supported, yet, and that they upgraded the wing cannons on the 300i and the Aurora's mounts to Class 2 because it's incredibly hard to hit anything with fixed weapons and a joystick...

Let's just say that when I overheated one of my Mantis 220's, and ran out of ammo with the other one on a wave, finishing off that last Scythe with just the fixed 117's was absolutely painful and took like 10 minutes by itself. I think that was wave 11, though, and was my first ship, so I can't complain too hard.

I'm going to recommend against bringing nose mounted weapons into Multiplayer, though, as they're not by default associated with a weapon group that's mapped by default on the joystick (they fell into group 3). So every death, you have to navigate the clunky MFD UI to assign them.

I killed two ship since I was so tempted to play.

I have two 300i's in my hanger but I changed to the 325. How do I tell which is which and is there anyway to buy extra weapons? I've got forward fixedlasers on the one i played.

There are some options available on voyager direct. I'm not sure which of those are actually usable yet.

The 325a has white paint with red trim, iirc, while the 300i is a flatter gray, the 350r is black with yellow trim, and the 315p is dark gray with orange.

You can also look at the stock nose hatchling -- the 325a and 300i trainer will have guns there, the 315p will have a tractor beam, and the 350r and 300i will have it empty. The 350r has two rear main thruster nozzles.

The only 300i you can play right now is the trainer model and the 300i. The variants haven't been hooked up to fly yet with damage states and alternate equipment.

You can go to your holotable to swap weapons around between your ships, and you can buy extra weapons from the Voyager Direct section of the pledge store.
