They're calling it Star Citizen 1.1 now, which is causing a bit of a controversy, heh. They're recommending you uninstall and reinstall from scratch. This should allegedly clear up any lingering patching errors going forward. There are a lot of goodies in here. The Retaliator is hangar ready, now, and the Gladius is flyable and combat ready. Speaking of, I think the Gladius is due to get a free fly week soon to celebrate, which I'll be glad for. I've suspected I'd be upgrading one of my Auroras to one for a while now, but I'm not sure which account needs it without getting behind the stick to compare. In addition, multiplayer free flight should be a fun way to tool around, introduce new backers to flying, and do silly stuff while hanging out. It'll also be a great venue to practice landing with the new landing system, hehe. Speaking of multiplayer, playing in public PvP Arena Commander matches will earn REC now, and you can use the rental equipment credits to try out new weapons, shields, mount types, and even ships for a week at a time (I think the way I've read it, only days you log in count against you). Also of note, customizeable controller response curves are available now (sweet!). |

Wow, just the 1.1 install is 25GB, not surprised at all the final game is estimating over 100. Download speed was much faster this time though, they've either beefed up their servers/connection or there's a lot more copies out there to peer from. |

It's on a new CDN. i got it done overnight without a problem, flew for a bit. I seemed to be drifting a lot more. I don't know if that's because I'm running with a wider throttle due to my new control set up or what. I bought a razor Tartarus I want to try to set it up to aim gimbals. |

They've been tweakimg the flight model, specifically how G-Safe throttles your speed vs. turn rate (a little more smoothly), and how COMSTAB handles (looser, so a bit more drifty) to let the physics shine through more. The Retaliator looks good in the hangar. I'm a bit skeptical of how they're handling turret sizes lately, but we'll see how that shakes out (as it is, I'm sort of wondering whether anybody will bother populating these quite small manned turrets, particularly if they can eventually be re-mounted as unmanned ones) as 2.0 hits and sees some balancing passes. I do like how they've squarely landed the feel of cramped submarine-style quarters on it. It feels very military/naval, without being overtly difficult to navigate your character through. |

I got a (dead, but mostly intact) scythe stuck in my ship today. I tried to get a screen shot but I don't think it worked. I had to wait for it to despawn. It was affecting my flight physics and everything. |

So apparently I'm getting downsized, or at least my ride is. Well technically, I was upsized when I wasn't supposed to be and now i'm being brought back into line. Which is fine, we've got a long way to go. It does mean I've got twenty bucks in weaponry I can't use anymore. Hopefully that melting is coming sooner rather than later. |

Size decrease on all Aurora Weapon Mounts to bring them in line with brochure specs means I can't use the guns I paid extra money for, or won't once the next patch goes live. |

I'm going to have to do some learning on the new sizes and gimbals and whether I actually use them at all. |

If you've been scoring his without aiming your gimbals youprobably don't need them and can keep your big guns. |

Finally got a chance to dig back into SC a bit. I decided I wanted to check out the tutorial that's brewing on PTU, as it's the first peek into scripted content and NPCs we'll see. It's still a bit rough around the edges; the animations need some polish, still, and the mission scripting had a few holes I found that gated content until I jumped through a hoop I didn't realize was there, and so on. But it looks like a decent first pass at introducing new pilots to some basic concepts. It also walked me through the take-off and landing processes quite nicely. I have to say, I like the top-down landing pad mode the radar switches to. |
