The footage looks great. I'm personally fine with Chris delaying it as long as he likes. There's no shortage of games, and I'd really like this one to be special. If it comes out right, it's going to be at the top of a few different genres. |

Forbes also used the word "indefinitely" -- which is technically correct, I guess, but has connotations in this context that I don't think apply. They're not committing to a date, which is way different from giving up on releasing it entirely. You delay or put something on hold indefinitely when you have no intention of finishing it, but don't want to come out and say you're quitting. |

There does seem to be a lot of loaded press about this game for some reason, maybe because it was independently successful in funding? Seems like the press corps is quick to say "SEE, THEY'RE NOT FULFILLING THEIR COMMITMENTS" every time something gets moved or pushed back. The scope has changed, people. |

The press loves controversy in anything. Freaking out over SC generates more interest and clicks than "things seem to be going pretty all right, folks." |

"After years of hard work, everything is coming together, probably going to be a couple more years though." Yeah, not a great click generator there. |

So have we heard anything about a release for SQ42? I saw something about "Alpha 3" coming, but I'm still waiting on my campaign stuff. |

Alpha 3 is a big push to get a bunch of stuff in, much of which also applies to Squadron 42. We're talking things like the first conversations with mission-givers, NPC interactions, big updates to netcode, the rollout of procedural planetary surfaces, and all kinds of other stuff, basically all of which will go into the campaign because the campaign is a big narrative thing that incorporates all the game systems that are still being built. The only thing that the PU has on it is scale of content generation, really. They've been publishing production schedules that break down features for each major patch, product-management style. That's the best way to get an overview of what's coming in the next big push. |
