In case you missed it, the development timeline for PU alpha 3.0.0 was released on Friday. Finally getting a chance to skim through it (it's mostly interesting as a more detailed set of features that are being targeted for 3.0.0; I couldn't care less about the project management timelines involved), and there's some neat stuff on the horizon... character customization, ship persistence (repair state, ammunition, etc.), the first two mission-giving NPCs, loadable cargo, tradeable commodities, inventory, three moons for Crusader (with atmospheric entry and landing), Item 2.0 conversion (for radars, powerplants, improved pipes, etc.), AI turrets (hell, fixing manned turrets, too), the backend stuff for generating background economic activity and dynamic content...
All that and more is targeted for the end of June. Even if you figure that slips, we could be looking at a much more interesting and closer to game-y experience sometime this summer.
