Yeah, EVE-Online is ... different. I enjoyed building a ship, and the newbie missions they give you. But I missed having a character, other than a static image of myself. I mean, you ship is cool and all, but I never really felt like it was me, the way a character would. Now, this was before they introduced something approaching avatars for use in space stations, so maybe that's changed now.
The other thing is that if you don't like PvP, I doubt you'll like this game. All the good stuff and interesting encounters are out in unpatrolled areas, as I recall, which leaves you vulnerable to gankers.
But, it's a very pretty game.
And, Hop, you really need to check out Shards of Dalaya. It has a very cool story line (and guild competition, but you can ignore all of that if you like). You can two-box in SoD - you can register two accounts per email address, and play on them both at the same time. Can't play three at once, though. But, if you have one friend who also two-boxes, you have a ready-made group. Even two-boxing can take you far, in terms of content.
