Bah. I saw "university in Atlanta creating Augmented Reality zombie game" and figured that you got to carry your phone around Atlanta, and it would populate the streets with zombies as you move around. What's "real" about this stupid poster? Total misnomer. This is an Augmented Map game.

This game needs to be made!

In fact, isn't there some sort of Pokemon game that already works similar to this? I think I heard about it in one of the Penny Arcade news posts.

I eagerly await the day when I can hold up a device similar to the one in this video, view my yard through it, and see a zombie come out from behind a tree. Lighting and such looking good. That day is a ways off yet, but the major technological hurdles seem to be solved.

And.. wait a minute, thinking about this idea more... maybe they can stick to Pokemon. Especially if graphics get more and more lifelike. I could do without a fairly realistic image of a zombie emerging from behind a tree and shambling towards me. :p

That's exactly what I mean, Noggel. And, as you walk the streets of your neighborhood, you could defend your neighbors who are out walking their dogs and completely oblivious to the zombie threat intent on attacking them!

I want to be able to "shoot" strangers around Boston and then have it post on their Facebook wall that I killed them.

Actually here's what I plan on doing when I get a smart-phone:

1) Send the feed of the camera to my computer through wireless
2) Have the computer process it using a powerful GPU in real time.
3) Send back a post-processed display to my phone

This has the potential for awesomeness.

You have to start somewhere. This will probably come about in time with more development and processing power.
