No, this is the right forum, she's one of us. Well, not a Glader, but a gamer.

Christina Aguilera, Classic Game Fanatic
by: Chris Morris

King Tournament Games

Christina Aguilera Getty Images She's sold more than 50 million albums throughout her career, has appeared on countless magazine covers, and currently works as a judge on "The Voice," one of the hottest new shows on television.

But if you really want to get Christina Aguilera's competitive juices flowing, challenge her to a game of Galaga.

The 30-year old singer, best known for her hits "Genie in a Bottle" and "Ain't No Other Man," confessed her love of classic arcade games on Thursday's Jimmy Kimmel Live.

"I'm a huge gamer," she said. "Board games. Arcade games. I'm a huge game nerd. I have a mini-arcade in my house."

It's stocked with some classics, too. Among the titles in her collection are Donkey Kong and Galaga -- and when friends come to visit, one of the first things they want to do is erase her name from the high score list.

"Everyone that has a little gamer in them comes over and tries to beat my score - and I get a little competitive," she said "People think 'You reset it!' I'm like 'I did not. Come on, let's go.'"

This isn't the first time Aguilera has declared her love of games. Three years ago, she told MTV: "Target is an amazing store. You can find anything there. Board games... I'm a big gamer. I love my Nintendo DS. I love my board games. So on the road, [I play them] especially to kill time. Now, I don't have much time, because of my little one, to play those games. I play different games now."

Her favorite title at the time? Mario Kart DS.

Ironically, despite her love of games and her much-acclaimed pipes, Aguilera hasn't been featured in any of the music games that have come out over the past few years.

Then again, after seeing how Axl Rose and No Doubt both ended up suing Activision over their appearances in the Guitar Hero franchise, maybe that decision was for the best.

I bet she doesn't know how to use WASD, and also old people who can't even copy and paste play board games. The Nintendo DS makes her gamer-ish, but real gamers have modern console systems or computers.

I'm sorry, but no. Donkey Kong and Galaga give her more gamer cred than you.

I always dig when people whose work I enjoy (though I don't really count Christina Aguilara in that number) enjoy the same things I do. It's nifty to see Rosanne Cash and the Mythbusters conversing back and forth on Twitter with the MST3k gang in mutual admiration, for instance.

So sayeth the lord! Amen! Gamer labels are lame, imo. "Real gamers don't/do x, y, or z!" **** that noise.

I don't know if we want her. Isn't she kinda skanky? Aside from that, I don't really need other people to validate my hobbies. (I'm actually trying to play less video games nowadays.)

That's ok, most "real gamers" have moved onto ESDF instead of WASD anyways.

That's not true because the default configuration on all first person shooters is WASD, post-1997 or so to present.

And ESDF gives you A as an additional utility key accessible by your pinky. Wow, so a gaming noob and a troll noob? You're going to have to start really validating your bandwidth.

You can hit control with WASD, and if ESDF was so much better it would be the default. You're not a gaming noob if you use WASD, and Christina certainly doesn't use ESDF. Also it's dumb to change the keys on every shooter you play because it takes a lot of effort. My comment was about that she probably hasn't played a FPS and is stuck on old consoles, like my roommate who has a Gamecube and isn't a gamer. They just don't care enough to upgrade because they aren't actually into games.

A lot of effort?

I have been doing ESDF since 1997 (and have even made several posts on the Glade about it). It takes me less than 5 seconds to change it on every game I play. And once it's changed, it's changed forever. I wouldn't call that a lot of effort. People probably spend more time naming their save game files.

The other advantage ESDF provides that others forgot to mention, is that F is a home row key and therefore always has a bump or indentation on it making it even faster and easier to find your finger placement. On top of that, ESDF gives you 3 more bind-able buttons to the left that I make heavy use of in all my games.

WASD may be the default, but when does "default" mean "superior"? I am sure you yourself could come up with a giant list of things where the "default" of something in any aspect of life is obviously not the most efficient and/or best.

And, I think it's cool Christina is a gamer. Donkey Kong is still far harder than any game released in the last few years.

I didn't say superior. I think they're equivalent. And I don't like shift or control being further away. Besides someone else started the "wasd means you're a noob" subject.

She's generally not my type of music, but damn the girl can sing, too. Not like other pop corporate-manufactured stars where it's all image. Christina has a set of pipes on her.

Yes she does Talya. Not my preferred type of music either, but I don't mind at all when one of her tunes comes on the radio.

I hate WASD. But I do think Christina is kind of hot.

This argument reminds me of a comment someone once made about Everquest. Something to the effect that there are people who play Everquest, and then there are gamers.

You're not a noob because you use WASD. You're a noob for trying to discredit someone by saying they probably don't even know what WASD is then defending it against a jest someone made about ESDF with some completely irrelevant fact about it being default movement bindings. Now you're also a reading comprehension noob.

That doesn't even make sense.

Of course it does. You're just trying to find an angle to troll it from and you can't think of one right now.

And what you mean "even" make sense? That's all a grammatical sentence is intended to do. As if there were some sort of hierarchy of purpose sentences are constructed for, the least of which is making sense.

True gamers play solitaire, but only when Farmville isn't available.
