It's one that I know was posted at the glade several years ago.

Dwarf Fortress!

Pretty fun read.

I've played it for years. I've got a fortress going right now, seems like I may have a good shot at going pretty long with it. I've fended off two Titan attacks, a goblin siege, and a couple of ambushes. I'm trying to get a military trained up, it helps to have captured goblins to turn loose in the barracks so that the dwarves can kill them.

Yeah, I remember reading about it here. But I'm one of the people who never got past an initial acquaintance with it.

Most people don't play it twice, no.

It strikes me as being very similar to Nethack. Obviously with very different goals.

I've been playing it too lately. Very unique and complex game. It's very much a roguelike sandbox game that's part simulator/builder/manager. There's no endgame condition or built-in goal to achieve, other than merely surviving that is.

Sometimes it's more fun to read about someone else's playing it. SA has several LPs on Dwarf Fortress. There is usually some hi-jinx.
