Picked this up last night. It's....okay. I was expecting all of these fan-made improvements, like Hi-res textures and backgrounds, high quality music, etc. Unfortunately, most of these things are not included. Yes the character models are better looking than before, but no where near as hi-res as some of the fan-made mods. And they allow you to select widescreen resolutions now, but the background images are still very, very pixelated. They are still using the original 320 X 240 backgrounds and they are just scaled up. Not very pretty. Also its in the original 4:3 aspect ratio, so when you de-select "Keep Aspect Ratio" to support your widescreen res, everything gets stretched pretty badly.

It's not all bad, mind you. They did scale up the FMV scenes a good bit, and all of the text/menu problems are gone now. And it works pretty well "straight outta the box." So new/returning players can just download it and play without having to jump through all sorts of hoops and stuff to get it working properly, which is how it was before. But if you want the ultimate experience, you're still gonna have to find some user mods, and get your hands dirty, so to speak.

All in all, not bad for $9.99.
