Anyone play/played Factorio? It definitely scratches my logistics itch.
What I like about Factorio over even modded Minecraft is that it is almost completely able to be automated. Anything you can craft, you can craft automatically and you can mass produce if you have enough resources. The resources are all finite though, except water and sunlight. So as you use up ore patches, you are forced to explore farther and farther into the infinite procedurallly generated world to find new untapped resources. Then you need to deal with transporting the materials back to your machines which are hungry to consume and produce. Once you have the resources back, you need to deal with how to distribute them to the various crafters so they can create their products. The game is 2D so you can't route items over each other, just next to. So your base is forced to spread out. The bigger your base, the you have to deal with the logistics of resource distribution. You also generate more pollution. If you have enemies turned on, then all that pollution is feeding and angering the native alien population, which comes calling to chew on your tasty machinery. So you need to build and maintain defenses for your base. You're only one person, after all. At least, until you build up your network of bots.
So has anyone played it? Anyone interested? There is a multiplayer mode which might be fun to try.
