Free game on Steam! It is an update to the old UT mod. Plays like a cross between Crimsonland and Gauntlet. Fun stuff and you can't beat the price..

DL just finished and gave the game a whirl.

So far I have only played the offline practice mode. Lotsa fun, but I can't wait to try it with some of my Steam friends once I get the gist of the game.

Well that was bloody good fun! Pretty short but it's definitely nice to just hack and slash run and gun through some aliens. Can't wait to try harder modes. Hopefully there will be tons of mods as well.

I'm very impressed with it. I can't believe it's a free game. If I have time, I'll definitely try to team up with you guys for some alien killing fun.

Yeah, the stuff I'd read about it seemed to liken it more to L4D, which I wasn't that interested in. My brother coerced me into playing it today, and I admit, it's good fun in a group of friends.

I tried out this game this evening. The second time through the offline practice, I did much better. I kept my squad alive all the way to the big elevator at the end, but people were running out of ammo by then. I only found one place on the level that allowed me to reload; is that the case, or did I miss something?

Moo, you can carry spare ammo packs (just like the one you found in the level) in lieu of a secondary weapon. This gives you more ammo than carrying a secondary weapon (and its corresponding store of ammo) would grant you -- your teammates can also pick up the ammo from the packs you drop, though I'm not sure if your computer teammates in offline mode are very smart about that.

How does multiplayer work? Do you have to plan 4 people to play? Or is there a matchmaking/PUG system? I don't really want to play with random people, but I don't think I even have 4 Steam friends.

There's a matchmaking system, yeah. You don't need all 4 slots filled to play, either.

My friend and I went through the campaign last night. It took us about 3 hours to make our way to the end, and we ended up making it to the ship a couple of seconds too late to actually beat the campaign. By then it was already late so we stopped. It's a pretty fun game, and it took a lot of learning to figure out the strategies and roles. We need to find 2 more people so we can go through with a full squad, not just two.

Mookhow:

Look me up. Steam name: JpC812

I'm game and I make a decent medic.

EDIT - I found your profile and sent a friend request. Send me an invite if I'm on and you need another squaddie.

With a console command, you can turn off the requirement for 2+ players to play through the game. So, here's a video of someone soloing the 2nd level of the game on Insane difficulty.

I couldn't get the hang of the chainsaw.. Definitely going to go back and try again.

Beat it on hard - trying on Insane next. Helps to have squaddies who don't just run ahead and die. *angry eyes*

My friend went through on Normal tonight and made it all the way through. Knowing the maps better helped, as did having tesla guns, mediguns, and shock armor. The hardest level (took about 4 tries to get through) was level 3.

The tesla gun was bugged. Instead of doing 1+(.25*damage skill), it was doing 1+(25*damage skill). So it was supposed to do 2 damage per shot, but instead was doing 76 damage per shot.
