Well, I understood Lenas' point to be that developing your characters outside of their non-primary roles is getting into maxing your characters.

Correct. Your characters may not be maxed out, Raltar, but you have the ability to do so.

Well, they can't as I haven't finished the game yet. I keep trying to beat mission 55 so I can have the double CP accessory, but I get instantly killed every time I enter combat. What's the point of putting that in the game if I can't reasonably get it until most of my **** is maxed out anyway?

You're arguing semantics.. Once you're in chapter 11, you can "max out" your characters enough to beat damn near anything in the game. The only reason to really keep leveling after you beat it is for the trophies/achievements.

As for Neochu:
Once you're high enough to survive the initial hit, all you need really is a sent with 7k+ hp and some patience. Go into the fight with the two buff shrouds, or try to farm yourself from Tetriadic Tiaras from the mission 7 mark.

I spammed death on Neochu, apparently he isn't immune.

Yeah. It took me a good 4 hours of spamming death(and dying a lot) before I finally got him. Then it took another 30 minutes to kill the little guys by spamming death again because I forgot to set up a rav/sen/med, so I had to stick with my sab/sen/med to kill them all.

You've all jumped ahead of me :p I tried getting Neochu yesterday but kept getting killed in the first 10 seconds, so I had to level some more.

I think I'm subconsciously stretching it out because I don't know if I'll replay it, and I want to get everything I can out of my FF games.

Incidentally, you can beat the game and your save after you beat it takes you back right before the last boss. So you can still go back and get crap done.

You have to beat the last boss to unlock the final level of the Crystarium anyways.

Yeah, but that's really only useful for trophies/achievements, especially since you get everyone's awesome-leet attack on crystarium lvl 9.

I found that the easiest(for me, anyway) place to level is the underground cave place where Atmos was. Walking from one end to the other would give me at least 100k(200k with the Growth Egg, of course) CP and I could get from one end to the other in about 15 minutes. There might have been more effeicent places to level, but that seemed to be the least monotonus for me. I have basically everything maxed out at Crystarium Stage 9(secondary roles are still being filled out, but I didn't want to risk hitting 999,999 going through the last part of the final dungeon). So I started into the last dungeon last night and should beat the game today. Then it's time for hardcore grinding because I'd like to get all achievements for this one.

100k per 15 minutes is slower than just grinding the behemoth king and wolf before the caves. Cave may be more entertaining, but certainly slower if it's taking 15 minutes.

~20 sec kill, ~20 sec reset
6600 CP / 40 sec
594k CP / hr vs 400k
Or, 1.2m CP vs 800k w/egg

Grow Egg + Behemoth = maxed characters in 4 hours.

Yeah, that's the main reason I don't do the behemoth king/wolf fight. At least in the cave I get some variety.

I don't know man, 50% more exp is worth the monotony IMO.

Nah. Eventually I might move to the Ochu, which is apparently even better exp than the king/wolf.

I just beat the last boss. I enjoyed most of this game. The ending was excellent as well. Now I get to CP farm until my eyes bleed.

I've done this a few times myself. I agree its much less more enjoyable than camping. When I finish today I think I am going to go back and grind through the trials and Eden again though. (except Neochu, hate that mofo).

Wait, last story boss? So, you can continue after the story is over and get the secret bosses and etc?

When you complete the game, you get to save at the very end. What that does is put you in the room right before the last boss. You can then leave that area and use the portals to get back to Gran Pulse and continue to level up(since you cannot hit the last level of all roles until you defeat the final boss). This makes certain missions much easier as you get an asston of HP from that last level of the Crystarium.

I went ahead and maxed one role each for my characters and lost interest in grinding very quickly. It's going to be a gradual thing. I just can't stand running back and forth to grind those levels.

So I beat this. If I max everything out and beat it again do I get a decent ending?

Sort of. Except this time, after you kill Orphan, Zeromus pops out to fight you.

Lots of mixed emotions on the ending, eh? Raltar said it was excellent but Screeling hated it and it seems Hopwin didn't care for it as well?

I'm on the second Proudclad fight right now, will probably beat today.

I do wanna say that the intro movie to chapter 12 was one of the coolest final fantasy FMV's I have ever seen, ever.

Update, beat the game. I really liked the ending.

Getting hit with
Spoiler:
Death, 80% of the way through the first Orphan fight, was infuriating.

Time to farm.
