Bad idea on EA's part to make the DLC items downloadable from a browser. Now I have all of those, too.

10 hours in and I've barely scratched the surface. This could quite possibly be the best game I have ever played in my entire life.

That's the PC version, I take it?

i don't know whether to buy the PS3 version soon, or wait for a few months (year?) until I replace my PC.

Aye, PC. Download the files straight to your comp and use the updater tool DA:O comes with, and boom you're done. There's a warning that you might not be able to use the items on your character until registered, but it doesn't seem to have affected me.

Great game, so far. Gorgeous graphics and engaging storyline, but I expected no less from Bioware.

Plus any game that features Claudia Black as a voice actor gets big props in my book.

I'll probably pick this up for the 360 or PS3, but not right now. I just splurged on the six games I ordered from Best Buy's Buy 2 Get 1 Free sale (Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, and Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time for the PS3, Fallout 3 and Borderlands for the 360), and my debit card needs to stop smoking before getting used again. :)

It'll keep for you, FarSky. That's the nice thing about RPGs. Why did you get MUA2 for the PS3, though? Why!?

I already have it for the Xbox 360, but the reason for a second copy is two-fold: one, there's something wrong my disc, I guess; it sounds like a jet engine taking off every time the disc spins. Which is, of course, all the time. I was able to alleviate this by installing the game to the 360 HDD, but unfortunately I also still only have the original 20GB, which, after system data and other junk, leaves me only 1.4 GB free space...and that's after clearing out everything I can reasonably clear out. I was scared my 360 was dying, but MUA2 is the only game for which this occurs. Shame...I need a 360 with an HDMI port. Also, my 360 controllers are ****. Anyway, the second is that we have more controllers for the PS3 (three now, hoping to get a fourth in a couple of weeks), and we're hosting Thanksgiving this year, and my step-brother-in-law is a major comic geek (his interests and tastes run very similar to yours, in fact...and I've never seen the two of you in the same place at the same time...hmm...) and we can likely coax him into a game, as well as maybe his wife (Phe's step-sister).

Well, crap. How do I explain to Amdee that I swear I'm not married to Phe's step-sister? Especially when she probably hasn't read your post yet. I'm bound to sound guiltily defensive... =P

Is that a reference to the game, Kaffis's predicament, or an extrapolation to life in general? :D

All three!

I kid, I kid. I've been getting raped about ten steps into the first "Tower" mission because I have no form of healing and I can't go back to get any. I don't think.

Just found this little gem on the Dragon Age wikia, and I had to share it.

Too awesome!

Also, the banter between Alistair and Morrigan in this game is very entertaining! There are a few examples if you follow the link above. Really good stuff.

I knew there was a reason I liked Alistair from the moment I met him... Not that I've gone much further yet beyond meeting him (too many games to juggle!)...

Alistair is way too sarcastic for my liking. It's a shame he is so useful in combat. Using Wynne, Alistair and Leliana at the moment...probably should have used someone else other than Leliana because I am also an archer...so Alistair runs into melee all by himself until I can find the Ranger trainer for my specialization. At least then he'll have a wolf going up there with him, though I have no idea how long the wolf will last. This game is pretty brutal for the unprepared, but I've found it becoming easier once I got a dedicated healer in Wynne...too bad I didn't get her until 20 hours into the game.

For Ranger Specialization, all you have to do is be level 7, and buy the book from the dwarf merchant in your "party camp." I bought mine last nite and got my Ranger spec. But I'm a little disappointed in it. All it adds is 4 summoning talents. Summon wolf, bear, spider, and summon mastery which increases all three. Haven't used them yet, though, as there's tons of other talents I want to get, first. Maybe I should try them out in combat and see how they do.

People have been debating back and forth about Shapeshifter vs. Ranger. Shapeshifter = YOU turn into a bear/spider, and it scales with your stats. Ranger = you summon a bear/spider, but their stats are static. Bonus is, there are two of you instead of one.

That's a good question: what are people playing?

My first run-through, here, I'm working on a Human Rogue, planning on keeping my eye out for the duelist spec.

I've got intentions to try a shapeshifter, berzerker, ranger, and perhaps a champion, too, depending on how motivated for replays I get.

Dalish Elf Rogue for my first run. Profile here.

I REALLY want to try a Templar on my next run. The talents they get sound awesome!

Oh, BTW, you can choose 2 specs. One at lvl 7 and the other at lvl 14.

Started Dalish Rogue. I'm probably going to try out some kind of Ranger... Mage.

Can you only choose two specs from the same tree? Like a Ranger Bard? Or can I make a Ranger Spirit Healer?

Specializations are linked to your starting class. So Rogues are limited to Assassin, Bard, Duelist, and Ranger.

Wynne is a terrifyingly good healer. she's specced so hard into healing that I had to actually give her a spell or two to defend herself.

My protagonist is a Human Noble Champion so far. Next level, I'll probably pick up Templar.
