I played another match in the practice league tonight.

On my first match we were chatting in the start, and he said it was his first match as well. The second match, it was his third match, but he had gone 1-1 so far. So it seems to be working in my incredibly limited exposure to it.

I *thought* "heeey, I got the hang of this in the single player." and then it was, "Whoa, wtf is that! Quick, send everybody!" lol

I just finished the campaign. The last mission is pretty hard or pathetically easy depending on previous choices. I picked one way and couldn't finish, so I went back and made a different decision and I was able to beat it easily.

As to the ending...
Spoiler:
I am upset it ended like that. I'm happy as hell it seems Kerrigan has been cleansed and will hopefully live happily ever after with Raynor...but things that happened during the campaign lead me to believe it might have been a bad thing it happened how it did. Tassadar said that she was the only hope against the hybrids, but does that mean as the Queen of Blades or as whatever she has become? Did Raynor screw the universe to save her?

Also, Blizzard has said time and time again that Kerrigan is going to be the central protagonist in Heart of the Swarm(the zerg campaign). How can she fulfill that role in her current state? It doesn't look like she is completely human, but the dreads could fall out and her hair can come back after time. It is possible that she hasn't completely been rid of the zerg infestation and that she might still be able to control the swarm and still fulfill her role in the prophecy.

Then again, I am reminded at one time Blizzard said that all three campaigns would happen at the same time chronologically. But more recent interviews say that Heart of the Swarm basically takes place right after Wings of Liberty ended. Hopefully it doesn't take too long for Heart of the Swarm because that left me very unsatisfied in some ways, but very satisfied in others.

I dunno -- Human-only SP campaign, "more focus on multiplayer" (ugh).

I'm having my doubts about picking up my pre-order.

It's worth it for the single player alone.

It's good. I think it's all good. But I am an omg huge fan of StarCraft. IMO, the SP or MP hasn't disappointed me and I'll be able to fill a lot of time doing both. No other games even need to come out this year.

I guess it's just that I don't like the idea of paying for expansions outside of an MMO (especially for Blizzard prices). I still see Starcraft as more of a "static" game.

I dunno, I may pick it up today once I can walk again.

I know! Problem with...

Spoiler:
...a happy ending when you're only 1/3rd done the story is you know it cannot last.

As a side point, anyone else get the impression, after all was said and done, that Tychus Findlay's little explosion when you agreed to work with Valerian Mengst was more because he suddenly realized he was going to be forced to betray his buddy Jimmy sooner than he thought and he really didn't want to do so? If Jim had refused to go to Char, he wouldn't have been obliged to try carrying out Arcturus Mengst's order.

Spoiler:
I can't help but wonder if Valerian and Arcturus were in on it together and just put on a show for Raynor. It could be that this was Arcturus' plan all along. He knows that killing Raynor outright would do more for Raynor's cause than anything aside from actually winning the war against the Dominion. But if you give James the thing he wants more than anything in the world and then take that away once he has it...well, that would destroy James Raynor and the rebellion would fall apart. Mengsk would win. Thankfully, Raynor was too fast for Tychus and he was able to prevent Sarah from being murdered. Lots of questions left unanswered here. Heart of the Swarm can't come out soon enough.

Just bought it -- installing now.

I like the background narration while downloading -- wish more games did that.

A plot refresher is more important when people have been waiting 12 years between installments.

How will they be handling multi-player maps? I never did any reading on whether there will be user-created content or not.

http://www.cinemablend.com/games/StarCraft-II-Heart-Of-The-Swarm-Coming-Eighteen-Months-After-Wings-Of-Liberty-24175.html

This article from April 2010 says it should be coming 18 months after WoL. So guesstimate late 2011. But even the lead producer said that date was a guess.

Got the Collector's EDition today as a birthday present for myself. I haven't had a chance to play yet, but I did activate my mini-Thor in WoW. I never cared much for companions before, but... he's cool.

Enjoying it a lot so far.

Some random snapshot observations:

Those newscasts are hilarious -- "So, would you say the rebels caused a lot of civilian casualties?" "No actually, the only casualties were from Dominion soldi --" "Well thank you that's all the time we have for right now! <insert some random Dominion ass-kissing here>"

I want to hit that geeky researcher guy in the lab in the face with an axe.

Raynor > all.

While some amusing tidbits every now and then, the dialogue seems forced and wooden for the most part.

Music is frantastic.

Much h8 for not being able to run everything on high with no lag.

Sadly the mini-Thor pet is linked to your CE cd key and is not a separate key. If you already linked your SC2 CE to your b.net account, you're stuck with the pet.

Hm, anyone else getting a bug where the SC2 mouse icon stays even when you exit out of the game?

Cheats are already rampant in multiplayer making advancement pretty much impossible. 1 in 5 people lock the game up when they lose now, that number is only going to go up.

Noob question:

Is Protoss over powered or something? It seems I only ever run into Protoss opponents. I'm trying to get used to the Terran but it seems all I ever come across is players using those guys instead. Just wanted to see if I was missing something.

Ui:
If it's anything like part one, all three races are probably balanced wonderfully. It's kind of a rock > scissors > paper type game at its most basic level.

Unrelated, funny story:
I care so much about this game and the fact that I paid $60 for it yesterday, that after I got home I forgot to download/play it and watched Knight and Day instead.
